I need help in setting my dvr avc776w to view remotely. I have no problems in my old router dlink 704p viewing in LAN and remotely. But when I replaced it with the new dlink 300, I can only view in LAN but not remotely.

This is my config in my dvr network page

ip. 192.168.0.40
gateway. 192.168.0.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
dns 168.95.1.1
port 80

this is my config in my dlink dir 300

DHCP enabled
192.168.0.100-200

port forward
name: video server s
ip address 192.168.0.40
public port 80
private port 80
traffic type tcp

i hard reset the router many times and redo the config but still not successful. hope someone can give insights.

I don't know if Video Server E is different from the "S" but those settings work fine on my home setup with a 3com router.

You could try temporarily assigning the DVR to DMZ to eliminate port choice issues.

Not that it's likely relevant, but it's interesting that you have used an external DNS address on your DVR. I normally use the gateway (router) so the DVR can reach whatever DNS has been currently obtained off the ISP.

I agree.

Video Server S is used on the older DVRS, and when they started doing MPEG I believe that is when they started using Video Server E.

QUESTION: Why is there always enough time to go back and fix it right a second time??
