I want a 4-channel PC based DVR system.
I was thinking of using the GV-2004 H.264 card.

If the PC is based on a Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM, is the GV-2004 overkill? Will the overall performance of the DVR be indistinguishable from a lower end GeoVision card?

My requirements are that the system be able to record at least 10FPS at 800X640 resolution, and at minimum 10FPS per channel (4 channels total).

I also require remote viewing via the internet 24X7 (likely at a slower frame rate) , while simulataenously being able to display to the local monitor at full frame rate.

Also, does the video card processing power influence the performance of the system (for local viewing) in a significant way? I was thinking standard onboard video will suffice, but maybe I'm wrong?

The second issue i'm having is that (in reading these message boards), there appears to be plently of hardware related issues relating to GeoVision cards. As long as we meet the system requirements, why can't we expect the system to work properly? Why do there appear to be so many potential conflicts with these capture cards and the motherboard chipsets, video card, sound cards, and whatever else? Isn't GeoVision supposed to be the "Gold Standard" of capture cards? Do they not test there cards for Interoperability? Are we just supposed to plug-and-pray?
