Latest supplied version of Video Server E loaded to PC. Connected direct to DVR via LAN cable. IP addresses set. Multiple login attempts failed!

I have loaded the software ontp various machines (XP and Vista) and have the same result. Could the software be faulty, corrupt?

Login attempt as admin, password as admin.

A direct connection will probably need a cross-over cable. You might want to try using a hub or a switch.

Make sure to set a fixed IP address on both the PC and the DVR. Something like 192.168.1.2 for the PC and 192.168.1.3 for the DVR (192.168.1.10 should be the default for the DVR, but don't assume it is set right). Set the netmask to 255.255.255.0. You can set the default route to 0.0.0.0 or 192.168.1.1.

Make sure you set the LAN port on your PC to a speed the DVR can use. It may come up in GB and have lights but not be able to talk.

Reboot both the PC and the DVR. If you are using a hub or switch you should see the link lights come on for both ports.

From the PC you can then open a DOS window. Start/Run CMD.

Enter the command ipconfig /all to see verify your current PC config.

Enter Ping 192.168.1.3 (or whatever the IP of the DVR is set to). This will verify that the network is good. If you can't ping, something is set wrong or burned out.

Make sure the DVR is set to use port 80. Next try going to the web page http://192.168.1.3 and see if you can get in. If you get a web page, see if you can log in. You may need to load the Java update if you have never done it. If you get the page, but can't log in here, then you might have a user/password issue. If you have lost the network password, I think you will need to do a factory reset. Scorpion would be a good person to check in with in that case.

If you can get in via the Web Browser, then try Video Server E again. If you can't get in make sure it is the right app for your DVR, and that you have the port settings right.

These are the basics, give them a try.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Dave?

You took the words right out of my mouth!

That was the speech I was going to give!

Darn it!

LOL!

You do not need to do a reset.

http://scorpiontheater.com/videonetworkingwithavtech.aspx

Scroll down to the Lan cable section.....

Pins 1 and 2 of the ethernet cable need to go to pins 3 and 6.

Go to this site:

http://www.lanshack.com/make-cat5E.aspx

Wire the cable for 568A on one side, and 568B on the other side.

The green and the orange trade places. This is a cross over cable.

What do you think?

Guess I'm doing OK for a newcomer to the forum. I make my living fixing IP and telcom issues-CCTV is a hobby. Kind of expensive now, up to 3 Pelco PTZ, 2 DVR, 4 other cameras. Lots of wires and UPS. I even had to upgrade my internet to handle the bandwith!

How would you reset the Admin password in an AVTech DVR if it was lost? You can set the keylock from the remote or keypads, but where would you do the network if you can't log into it?

Thanks for that.

I can confirm that I have tried and retried all of your advice and that port, IP, settings are correct. I can connect using IP address of the DVR and web browser. Video Server E STILL fails to let me login.

Go to my site on the reset page, and choose the AVTech DVR, and it will show you screen shots how to do it.

Connect the two prongs with a screw driver with the device off. Turn it on, and hold it for 20 seconds, and release. This will factory default it.

menu 0000 (just hit the enter button 4 times)

Internet

If you can get in to the menu then you can do a factory reset there rather than opening the lid, and shorting two prongs with a screw driver.

Menu
Advance
System
Reset Default (resets everything to factory default).

IN System is where you will find password (DVR panel password).

Did video serve E come with your DVR, or did you just "choose" it, and down load it from the internet?

The password for Anytime, Anywhere page is the same for your server program.

I am wondering if you have a newer machine, and you need to use Video viewer rather than server E.

Thank you for the quick responses.

I am not sure about the re-set procedure for the DVR as the DVR itself is fully operational and I have control of the password.

A CD with Video Server E was supplied with the DVR, also has Video Viewer 0075, and DVR viewer on disk but the notes below suggest Video Server E is the option to install.

*NOTE*

1. "Video server E" Software AP apply to models 760,761,782,785,787,776W,777W etc.

2. "VideoViewer0075" Software AP apply to models 766,604,608,616,0412,0824,1648 and last model:760 etc.

3. "Dvr Viewer" Software AP only apply to model:771A

"Pls. kindly note above informations"

If you want to learn a lot about the AVTech product, read Scorpions posts. I have been following the forum for a little over a year, and finally joined it. He is a wealth of knowledge.

In a recent post Scorpion mentioned the new VideoViewer. I have the older 761 that has the PATA drives. The newer version has the SATA drives. It sounds like the new versions being released won't work with Video_Server E. Load up the other one and give it a try.

I do not recognize line 2 model numbers, but the 0075 is an AVTech viewer.

Can you put the website url using * for . *com.

After I get the url for the site then I will have you go back in and reedit the post to remove the url.

You need to use the Video Viewer. It is much better then Video Server E as it is "new, and improved".

The details posted were not from a web site but were provided by a re-seller (who has now corrected the given advice).

Thanks again.

I've heard of a few people having problems. Have you tried downloading the software from elsewhere? If you cannot find another copy let me know and I'll upload my copy.

Becasue I've heard a few people mention problems with the AVTECH software lately, I am wondering if any new Windows updates is causing a problem?
