COV on Channel 1 appears. how can i remove this? this happened after a brownout.

Check you manual - the channel may be in Covert mode.
Covert mode hides the image from the main display when the admin is not logged in. This lets you run a camera watching your employees and they can't tell you have it just by looking at the DVR screen.

Have you powered down the unit completely?
I also wonder if a hard reset would get rid of it?

the covert mode for this channel is not active. i have tried activating it and it shows blue screen which is ok. but when i deactivated it shows the COV like in the photo.
have tried powering off the dvr. no effect
i need to get to my client to do hard reset. i will post here what happens next

Sounds like the covert as mentioned earlier could be the problem, took a look at the manual (dont have that model to test, but found manual online) it states
QUOTE:
3) COV (COVERT):
Select “YES” to mask the selected channel which is under recording.
When this function is activated, the “COV” word will be shown on the screen.

sir when the COV is activated the screen should become blue. in my case the video can be seen and it has the COV on it as shown in the photo

Go into display or camera, cant remember what on and make sure covert off. May cure it?

i have tried hardware reset. it didn't work also.
reset the factory setting on the software did the job.
