What is the best way to connect 8 cameras to a multimode fiberoptic line. My company does not do any fiber work (and will not start on this particular project) I want the fiber vendor to supply a connector/ termination device but do not know what to ask for. All the cameras are within a short distance of the fiber line. I would like to pull the cameras (either Cat5 or coax) to one point and tie in together. What will I need and who manufactures the devices I need; where can I buy them; and what kind of cost are we talking about? Thanks for your help.

We could use IP cameras.

If your going to use IP cameras you could use something like this

Its a 8 port gigabit switch with 1 SFP port. It also has full POE for the cameras.

on the other end you could use one if there Media Converter.

If you can use IP cameras, Blackbox and other manufacturers make media converters. I've used blackbox converters for copper to fiber to copper ethernet conversion. They work great, and they are backed with a super warrenty.


Otherwise, I see in my ADI catalog (yea yea yea, don't give me any crap :P) that they have a few products made by IFS for GE that would work.

If it's multimode fibre 62.5 then ask for ST conectors.

If your going to use analog cameras and run them to a fibre converter with coax, I have used both of these and they work fine
