If you could make a PC based DVR from the scratch, how would it look? What was inside it? How would it work and what could it do?

I often look at many different kind's of DVR's both PC and Standalone and I never seem to fint the 1 that gives me everything I want or one that is done the way I want it.

I guess there are others also that have it the same way, so would be intresting to see if any have any ideas on how the PERFECT PC based DVR would be like!

actually i would prefer a really small one, with a BNC Backplane ..

maybe some pictures also would be intresting?

I don't know that I could possibly care less about how it looks.

I want hardware compression, lots of channels, MP IP support, on the fly transcoding, oh yeah and for free!

actually the ultimate DVR would come with free cameras :D

I guess you want them embedded too then, all in a BOX hehe! ;-)

yep, and yah dont even have to mount them, they just see around corners and such .. :D
