Hi one and all.
I have an AVTECH 40gb DVR that does not recognise the HDD. The HDD is a maxtror diamondmax plus 8 ATA133.
Can I just replace this with one 'off the shelf' or is there something else that needs to be done to the unit for it to work?

First off, please make sure you post in the correct category.

You should be able to take any ATA hard drive and make that unit work. I would suggest buying one new and when you install it, goto the menu and clear the hard drive from the dvr menu. At that point you should be good to go.
