Dear All,

This may be a stupid question, pardon me since I'm new to this CCTV thing.

How is the CCTV (420line) camera connected to a DVR system in term of resolution and performance compare to a webcam camera?

If I just want to setup a remote monitoring through the internet, what is the pro and con of using a DVR (CCTV camera), compare to a simple webcam camera?

Thanks.

pros - CCTV is built for monitoring, not videoconferencing
cons - about 100 times more expensive

CCTV is Industrial Surveillance for Security Purposes.

WebCams (NOT network cameras) are designed for simple entertainment.

Pro: More relaiable picture quality, and better backup options, CCD Sensor camera

Cons: Crappy picture cellphone quality image, crappy backup options, CMOS toy sensor.

The lens on most web cams is set to have a depth of about 1 foot. They also have a resolution of 160*160 and generally poor compression. They aren't designed for survallance work.
