I have been contacted by the owner of a warehouse who just got a new 16 CH DVR system put in last February only to find that the guy who installed it has packed up and closed the business. He never left him a remote control for the DVR and now the HDD is giving errors. He wants me to see if I can fix it.

The DVR model number is a HDR 16MS it looks like an AVTECH model of some kind. Does anyone know where I can buy a remote control for this DVR?
Also since I have to replace the HDD will any brand name HDD with the same interface suffice or will I have to use the manufacturer recommended models.

Any help greatly appreciated.
