Is it possible?

Hi Everyone,
Did any body try to do this. USB webcams are cheaper e.g. 1.3 Megapixel under $65.

So what I am thinking to do this:

PC--->USB 12/13 port HUB<---->USB to Rj45 Adaptor<----------------- ( up to 150 feet)---->Rj45 to USB Adaptor<----->Webcam

A 1.3Megal Pixel for $65

WoW, sounds like I am out of a job, Extreme will go Bankrupt, Fire & Brimstone, Cats & Dogs, Living Together !!!
hawk - 20 Jun 2008, 01:30 pm
I wrote it is 1.3 MP Webcam, ( Not CCTV or IP camera)
It is possible and I already ordered some stuff yesterday. On Monday June 23, I will post all details.
One cable having Audio, Vedio and Power.

Which Webcam are u getting ?
company, model number ?
thx
survtech - 20 Jun 2008, 02:06 pm
I seriously doubt if a 1.3 megapixel USB camera will have anywhere near the picture quality of, say, the Arecont AV1300M 1.3 megapixel camera. That would be the problem - pixel counts alone do not make a good camera and CMOS, especially cheap CMOS cameras are not known for their picture quality.
CollinR - 20 Jun 2008, 02:50 pm
Not to mentioned the short distances of USB.

You could use it to protect the DVR though!
scorpion - 20 Jun 2008, 07:26 pm
His is better than 4 Swann wireless cams, and multiplexor, and a VRC!!
hawk - 20 Jun 2008, 10:57 pm
I got it !!!I got it !!! I got it !!!
As I told I will let everyone know on Monday June 23, but you folks showed so much interest in this idea and I decided to do this experiment today. So here what I did and what I got
( I will upload video and pictures tomorrow if CCTV forum let me to upload)
So, from target:
Trust USB 2.0 Webcam - WB-5400 (15007T) $53.99

I went to radio shack and bought

USB cable extender “Gigaware® Super USB Extender” in US$ 29.99
100 feet network cable in US$ 35.00

From “nch DOT com DOT au ” Free “Eyeline” software.

Then I connected every thing and got same great picture and audio from 100 feet away webcam. :D
I told you “One cable for Audio, video and power” a great One camera MP System on PC under US$120.
I cannot believe it so cheap system, no NVR/DVR, no bunch of cables (But now I have to believe)

We will install that kind of 12-16 camera system and can make more $$$$$
I apologize in advance if there is any English or spelling mistake

No thank you this is not a professional product. By the way every pro IP camera can send Audio, Video, and power over one Network cable.

Please post some images and video.

The sad part is that people actually will buy from this guy and think they are getting a good deal. Then god forbid something happens and wala the company is gone.

I don't think youcan use that word professional here, Looks like someone hopping on the security bandwagon.
survtech - 08 Jul 2008, 04:32 pm

That is a huge company to have a sales team and a divison to just do site surveys wow I am a little ticked off we have been around a couple of years and don't have those..... :( :( :(   :x
scorpion - 09 Jul 2008, 07:50 pm
I am going to change my name to Scorpion Theater World Headquarters!

Or do I use the Americas Division?

When I tilt my hat to the left, then I am the Sales Team Division, when I tilt my hat to the right then I am the Site Survey Division, When my hat is straight then I am the CEO, CIO, and Marketing Officer, and when I take my hat off it is cuddle time for the old lady.
alanjh1965 - 10 Jul 2008, 04:29 am
Come on Guys lets be professional.....

Have you seen the Client list?

I can sleep safe at night knowing that BP/Exon is being protected by a USB Webcam
RickA - 10 Jul 2008, 08:34 am
I bet that hat has not been off his head for at least a month  Aside from that, what are the chances that he has stumbled on something that works. :?:
scorpion - 10 Jul 2008, 08:35 am
My professionalism is slipping! I apologize!

Is the list of the world headquarters, or the local station down the street?

Oooops! I did it again!

Gesualdo - 10 Jul 2008, 06:53 pm
just a thought, but Has anyone checked on his licensing and certification records of this large experienced staff as he claims. Any documents/ Falsifing documents maybe? would be interesting to find out.
scorpion - 10 Jul 2008, 07:02 pm
Hey! I thought you were not going to rat me out!

OH! You were talking about the other guy. Ooops. I'll exit stage left now!

LOL!
Gesualdo - 10 Jul 2008, 07:10 pm
you, sir, have a clue (and a very large one at that) of what you are talking about when security is involved. I defer to your knowledge in these matters. I will let the wife vouch for anything else, And no one else needs to know. TMI IMO
scorpion - 10 Jul 2008, 07:23 pm
You are too funny!
RickA - 11 Jul 2008, 09:05 am

cocacola - 22 Jul 2008, 02:10 pm
I have tested the software whit come 2.0 USB 1.3 MP camera's.

The quality is shocking great! This is really working... and cheap.
The software is rock stable.

If there is interest i can upload a screen shot.
survtech - 22 Jul 2008, 03:07 pm
Great. I would like to see your results - especially with multiple (say 4 or more) cameras. You might want to test this capability since USB typically has a 12Mb/s maximum data rate, which can throttle back to 1.5Mb/s.

If that doesn't work, you could also look into firewire cameras. IEEE1394/Firewire supports data rates to 1600Mb/sec so it could handle a lot more cameras per machine.

BTW, why would anyone want to jam GPS or GSM, and how would a laser pointer jam a radio?
cocacola - 23 Jul 2008, 02:27 am
Ok, here you are!

You can see all the nice collors, and all kind of shapes.
Image

You requested 4 cam pic's
Image
[b]Sh*t, i see my sister is using one of the cams.
Sorry about that..

Some time's you can have interference from other users that use the same software.
Image
I am sure the will fix this problem soon.
scorpion - 23 Jul 2008, 09:33 am
I do not know what I am looking at!!

Other than your very attractive sister, I could not tell if you pointed the camera outside or at an oil painting.

I used to sell these things like hotcakes until they were made illegal!

Darn it! They were a nice markup!

I sold them to guys who thought that their wife placed a gps system on guys car to track him.

I sold them to restaurant owners who wanted to maintain a "decorum" of tranquility.

I sold them to the "crazys" who thought the "Goverment" was out to "get them". Aluminum foil hats sold well also!

Some of the workers would buy them so that they could take a side exit, and the boss could not "see" the side trip.

Some would eat lunch with a wife/girlfriend or they would meet them for other purposes if you know what I mean.

There are those that buy them thinking that the cops were tailing them.
I would ask them: Are you a drug dealer (knowing that they look more like a punk then anything else), and they would say no. I would ask did you commit a crime? They would say no. I said if you are in trouble with the law I have some other items that you may be interested in. They would say they are not in trouble with the law!! (???) They would say they saw the police drive up, and down their street. (Paranoid).

One guy said that he was secretly dating a cops wife!! YIKES!!

Excuse me I have to go now. I hear one of those "black" helicopters flying overhead. OK! They have whisper blades, but I can "feel" them out there!

Which reminds me! I think a new X Files Movie is coming out!!

They are out there!
survtech - 23 Jul 2008, 09:53 am
Great pictures. I'm sure you can make a killing selling those cameras to abstract artists. They would also be suitable if you needed to prove someone stole your blue thingy, whatever it is! :P

What line of work is your sister in? I think I saw her webcam on the internet.

Oh, and that is not four cameras. That is two cameras; one repeated three times.
