Is it true that the Ultrak system is running obsolete? My contractor who is currently doing an upgrading of system from analog to digital recording says that some of my PTZ cameras need to be replaced as he is unable to "source for the protocol" for his Huper DVRs. Of course, one option is to retain the Ultrax matrix switchers so that I needn't replace the cameras. But still, I would like to know if this ultrak system is obsolete?

Ultrak was bought out by Honeywell Video a long time a long time ago. check it out with them.

Its not obsolete. They are still being sold under the Honeywell name. Sounds like your contractor is just using a DVR that does not carry the protocols.

Bear in mind, most Ultrak domes could work off of different protocols including Pelco P, Pelco D, Diamond, Max, and even the newer ones can read VCL.
