Hello, and I want to start off by saying thank you.
Well, I have been installing cameras for friends at no cost other than equpment for the last few months just trying to get a better understanding of the DVR setup and how everything works out. I am now starting to do it for businesses and people around town.

Questions:
1. How far can you run RG-59 before you get loss in signal
1a. How do you amplify the signal if you need to run it longer?
2. If I want to control cameras "up down, zoom ect.." How hard is it to configure, will this dvr do it.
[edit by mod-store link removed]
3.How do you convert to Cat 5 and why would you?

I think this si all the questions I have right now. Thank you again!

1. Varies by camera but I usually dont run coax more than 500 ft. (can be run further but thats just me.)
1a. If it is a long run use a balun to go from rg-59 to cat5. The distance varies by model but you can get a mile or a little more (6000ft.) with a powered balun.
2. Control of PTZ cameras vary by the camera manufacturer.
3. By using a balun. Usually either because of long distance or it is easier to run 1 cat5 and have 4 cameras on it then run 4 rg-59 coax.

Hope that helps.

One more question, how can you power a camera that is 1/2 a mile away if there is no power close by???
