hi,
I was wondering which would be the best camera for the front door. The door bell is very close to the door. The owner need to see who is at the door when someone rings the bell. The camera needs to have a wide view. At what height should the camera be mounted?

Thanks

If you are using a wide angle pinhole usually about 5' with a slight doward fov. (using a typical 3.6mm pinhole lense with a 1/3" chipset) or a KT&C door viewer camera, (2.5mm about 4' height) Stay away from the cheap cmos cameras!!!

One of the big potential problems with entry cameras is back lighting. Lots of door areas are dark, relative to the background area. I have a mini dome mounted at about eye level right next to the door and the view is great, but the back lighting is killing hte shot. I'll have to replace the camera (a GE color one) next year with something better for that position.
