Have a K Guard-100 4ch mpeg-4DVR connected to a linksy(BEFSR41) and it connected to (Rogers )cable modem.Changed in dvr to static and IP to 192.168.1.145. In router put 8000, tcp ,192.168.1.145. Using my laptop connected to router using VIDEO SERVER E connected to dvr and it is working just find. Left running and when to my other builing where there is a desk top computer connected to a router(same )and rogers cable modem. Installed same info into router and VIDEO SERVER E ,but cannot connect ,it says login procedure failed . When back to other builing to see if everything was ok ,working ok .Back to other builing and no go will not connect to dvr over internet. What could the problem be ???thank you

Are you saying the two buildings are wired to the same router?
They are both home run back to the same router?

or I was thinking that there was a same model router in the second building.

There are two many variables to take a wild guess.

Due to the fact that you are getting video on the local PC, then this tells us that you have a working DVR, and that the data wire is working to your router.

If the second Computer in the second building is hard wired back to the router then this is very confusing as you are not using the internet to see video. I would blame something on the second computer for not having video. Does it ping the DVR?

Question: Is the DVR port 8000?

If you are in a corporate environment then you may have to get admin rights to make changes. Your environment may be locked down real tight.

The above would not effect local lan, but it is murder for a lot of individuals trying to troubleshoot why they cannot see their home DVR.

The two buildings are not on the same routers ,just same type. Each building has its own internet with its own modem with the same cable company . The dvr port is 80 and I changed to 8000 because provider blocks 80 .I can talk to it if I'm connected to the same router but when I go to go on line at the other builing to get on line it says login procedure failed. when you use the front buttons and go into network it says network type static - -dns 168.95.1.1 --port 8000 is that correct? cause that is default . if so what is it suppose to be

What it turned out to be was that I should of left the default DNS-168.951.1
alone instead thinking I had to change it and changed it to 192.168.1.1 . Found it by reseting to default and did not change by mistake then bang it worked. Thank you for help. :D
