high cpu usage with cctv dvr card

i have been running 3 cctv cameras on my pc but of late my pc keeps on freezing up when i have left in on after about 2 to 3 hours(cameras running), its been running fine for the last 5 months or so i have fitted more cooling fans and regreased the cpu heat sink but i have noticed that when the cctv prog is running the cpu is at 100% is this normal i am using picco 2000 i never checked it before so dont know if it was running this high before should it run this high ?

Hi all i have found that one of the cameras was playing up and after removing it the pc stopped freezing up, the cpu is still running at 100% though it does not seem to be affecting the running of the pc, thanks for all you help

If it is a clone version bought on e-bay then yes

100% CPU usage and crashes are the norm.


Try uninstalling the driver and software and install a generic bt878 driver (google it). Then try one of the many webcam recording apps and keep the frame rate down. It may still crash though as it is now only really of interest to archaeologists :)

Also download AVG Anti-Spyware and search for malware.
