In my very limited experience ;)
If it flickers off/on quickly with colour distortion: bad BNC connection.
If it fades to black: bad power.

Your heaters are coming on and pulling your supply voltage down?

Please post more information about your system so people will stop jumping to conclusions as to what you have installed.

1.What type dvr do you have?

2.Was this perbuilt or did you build it?

3.Where did you get this dvr?

4.What brand and type cameras do you have?

5.What type power supply do you have AC or DC?

6.What type of wire is used to transmit video rg59 rg6 cat5?

Please answer all questions so we have a better idea we are not at your house and can not see the installation all dvr's are not the same as are the cameras.
