This is an excellent site to get started. They are pretty much the leaders in internet video products and have servers that will interface with your existing equipment as well as fully integrated server/cameras.

Let me try to clarify what you are trying to do.
Are you trying to do real CCTV applications like monitoring, or recording? Are you trying to do web casting of the sermon?
prady - 11 Jul 2005, 06:53 pm
I want to do real CCTV,like...
setup two cameras in one hall and then setup one projector in another hall.
secondly, put the feed coming from cameras to internet as well.
Hope I am clear.
Thnx for your replies,
Prady

It sounds like you are looking for broadcast gear?
rory - 11 Jul 2005, 10:08 pm

I am not sure whats "broadcast gear"
and dont know if it will fullfill my requirements...
rory - 12 Jul 2005, 01:52 am
prady, busy right now ... but i can help with some info
DVR with a DSP RCA output. This lets you run an RCA cable from the DVR to the Projector to give you high quality real time video.
Thing is ... 2 cameras only ..? How many videos do you want on the 1 projector? There is a Pelco device that splits the video into 2, but its not great. Depends what you want to do, or see.
The DVR will allow streaming over the internet.
Best streaming though would be from using an IP or Hybrid System, like Axis, or Video Insight. Especially if your main concern is streaming video, which in your case looks like you want to broadcast the video? though you probably will have issues with the local video to the projector, quality, if using Axis. Video Insight may help in this case, which is Thomas by the way, see if they offer a DSP card.
Covi camera is another thing to look at, though you may not be able to get it on that side of the globe yet, its still fairly new over here. It has coax as well as Ip outputs.

Ive never used a projector for CCTV video so cant comment on quality. Ive used Plasmas and LCDs though and normally they are great, but they are different from a projector.
Lastly, you could use existing camcorders (handy cams), and just plug them into either a DVR or a Video Server ...

Hey Rory,
Thnx for your input.
Highly appreciated mate.
I am not restriciting to projector only.
I can use TV/LCD/PLASMA anything.
I need good quality output.
I want to show only one output at projecttor/lcd
but I want to be able to control which one of two goes to LCD/TV.
and want to choose which one goes to live-stream as well.
Which DVR card do u think I should opt for?
secondly, my handycam gives me AV output and s-video output.
which one should I use.
as Venue is 11-12 meters long. SO I will need the cable to be able to carry the signal to this distance.
Once again, thnx very much, all help is highly appreciated.
thnx,
Prady

depends on what input the projector has ...
im sure one of them will match, at least the Svideo.
It gets a little more complicated with the rest of your needs, as for switching between the signals, for local and remote. For a PC monitor would just use a KVM switch, not sure what can be done for the projector, but im sure it is something easy I just cant think of right now this time of night ... :-)
Ill wait and see what Thomas comes back with, or the others, and either way think about it tomorrow and come back with some ideas ... its 2.15 am here ..
Rory
prady - 12 Jul 2005, 02:26 am
ohhh 2:15 AM...
its 4:25 PM, here in Aussie land...
If projector gives complications then i am more than happy to go with TV or LCD...
by switching , I mean, I can show one camera to LCD at one time and show second after some time..
depending upon which feed I want to send to LCD...
and same for streaming...
hope I am not making it more complicated to understands...
Thnx very much for you inputs mate.
Thnx,
Prady
rory - 12 Jul 2005, 02:30 am
yeah im logging off now, but the local switching sounds easy enough, the remote switching is a totally different thing though, lets talk tomorrow ..

Prady, where are you located, i would be more than willing to assist as it is a church thing, no smart comments guys :x

prady - 12 Jul 2005, 06:20 am
Hey guys,
First of all , thnx very much to CCTV_Australia for giving me time for a phone call.
Was great talking to you..
much appreciated.
I have came up with this scheme after talking with CCTV_AUSTRALIA. Please let me know about your views about it.
Purchase one AVS5430 video switcher and one VDA 4 amplifier.
CAMERA 1 CAMERA 2

`````|`````````|
___|_________``````______|______
|````````````|`` ```|````````````|
|`DVR`CARD`'|``````|`````VDA`4 `|
|____________|``````|____________|
`````|```````````````|```````|
`````|```````````````|```````|
`````|```````````````|```````|
_____|____________```|____`__|____
|````````````````|```|````|`|`````|
|``LIVE`STREAM```|```|TV 1|`|TV 2`|
|________________|```|____|`|_____|
``````
Details about AVS 5430 and VDA 4 can be found at
<http://www.livingstoneaudio.com.au/pages/default.cfm?page_id=24681>
Now this is I think how it should work..
two cameras will feed to AVS 5430.
AVF5430 will come up with output say OUTPUT 1 and OUTPUT 2.
OUTPUT 1 will be directly fed to DVR card as AVS5430 will be sitting quite near to computer which will do live streaming.
OUTPUT 2 will be fed to VDA 4 , which will give me 4 outputs, this will be used to display whats being selected from AVS5430 to OUTPUT at 2.
and all the TVs( I wanted 2 but this will let me use even 4) will see same thing.
I think there is no problem with this scheme.
but I am not sure , as I am not an expert in this field, so please help me out and let me know if u think there is flaw or loophole in this scheme.`
prady - 13 Jul 2005, 07:08 pm
any one????
PLease....
Rory?? CCTV_AUSTRALIA???
bob the b - 13 Jul 2005, 07:23 pm
Prady i cant see why you need a pc.
If you need 1 camera to stream video over the internet?
Use a web server
You need the 2nd camera to show on 4 screens?
Use a 4 way amp.
Total cost no more than £150 .
prady - 13 Jul 2005, 08:06 pm
what do u mean by web server??
how will i connect camera to webserver??
wont I need PC for it??
and
I need to be able to switch between the cameras whose feed is sent to TV.
thts why I need a switcher.
what do u say?
Again, i am not an expert..
thnx,.
prady
bob the b - 13 Jul 2005, 08:36 pm
A web server connects to the internet and streams live video without a pc.
it has inputs for video, do a google search.
All you need for the switching between two camera's is a basic video switcher, you can buy manual versions or remote control versions,quite cheaply.
server http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4616&item=5216969911&rd=1
manual switcher http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3319&item=7530002080&rd=1
With a 1 in 2 out amp thats all you need. Quality will come from the camera's so go for the best.
prady - 13 Jul 2005, 11:29 pm
the problem with tht switcher is..
it will give me only one output.
and I am not really sure, how will webserver work.
can u help me decide if the diagram which I posted earlier will work.
Thnx,
Prady
rory - 13 Jul 2005, 11:52 pm
Dude that will work ... hats off to CCTV Australia ...
Yes, so you can then switch the outputs from the switcher to whichever one you want to show at any time on the web .. since that DVRs Video input will always be activated.
Ofcourse with this, you can only ever view 1 camera at a time ... on the TV/Monitors or online .. .but you can switch between them seperately.
Rory
prady - 13 Jul 2005, 11:58 pm
cool.
thnx Rory...
U guys are great.
I have some other confusions in my mind as well.
I started streaming on DVR.. and then I swicth the output going to DVR.. Will it break the signal for some time , will it affect DVR, I mean, will DVR try to start recording again after the output is switched.
secondly, does DVR record both audio and voice?
Thnx heaps.
Prady
rory - 14 Jul 2005, 12:06 am
You can set it to "Always record" instead of motion, then it will record no matter whether the camera looses video or not. It will only loose video for as long as you have the video off that channel. Only having 1 channel you can do this and still get alot of recording. If you are going to use the 720x480 record quality which is the highest, then you would need quite a bit of Hard Disk Drive space, but good thing with PC DVRs you can easily add this later.
As for audio. Ive never used audio with the PC DVRs yet, but actually hooking up one tomorrow :-) It will record the input on the PCs Sound Card, what ever it is.
Rory
prady - 14 Jul 2005, 12:25 am
Rory, Please let me know how did you go with recording tommrow.
thnx ,
Prady
rory - 14 Jul 2005, 12:29 am
will do .... ive done it with GE stand alones before and it worked good, except was a stand alone not a PC DVR card ... will find out .. should be as good or better though as thats where PC cards shine also.
Im using a ceiling mount CCTV microphone so it wont exactly be Stereo, so I cant comment on that side of it.
For a church though, I dont think you are looking to spend the money required for broadcasting quality video and audio (tens of thousands of $$)... so this should all work out fine for what you need to do ..
Rory
prady - 14 Jul 2005, 12:36 am
I am ready to spend somewhere around $1000 for this purpose.
and which sofwtare do u think will be best to do live streaming.
can u recommend any good DVR card which will do streaming.
I am planning to use real-producer from real media for streaming.
any ideas...
Thnx,
Prady
rory - 14 Jul 2005, 12:44 am
Best DVR card i have used so far for remote video streaming is the Iview card .. it is limited on the local end, as far as features like playback & search, but it beats the rest on the remote video side, simple to use and fast. GeoVision has alot of local features though, and has local 720x480 resolution, where as Iview only has 640x480 resolution on the normal cards.
Now, i forgot to mention one of the few (if only one) DVR cards that have Java Based Remote Video, which works in all browsers that accept java .... one of our own members, Thomas, works for Video Insight in Texas USA ... this may be an option you want to look at ... the users wont be restricted to Internet Explorer ... as it doesnt require anything to be downloaded, whereas all other DVRs require an activeX file to be downloaded for it to run to show the video which requires Internet Explorer and a pain in the butt download time on some of them (Video Insight just needs a Java Enabled Browser like IE, FireFox, Netscape, etc), and Video Insight can probably customise it for you. Thomas any chance of a demo :-) :-) :-)
$1000 gets rid of the broadcasting price range :-)
When I say broadcasting im talking like what you see and hear from TV stations.
Rory
Thomas - 14 Jul 2005, 07:58 am
It's Javascript we use, not Java. ;)
rory - 14 Jul 2005, 11:00 am
whooops :lol:
prady - 14 Jul 2005, 07:51 pm
Hey Thomas,
can we see any demo?
and when DVR cards record video, do they record audio on video as well?
Thnx,
Prady
prady - 14 Jul 2005, 09:39 pm
Hey G22,
There is no voice in the videos,
Does tht mean, DVR cards can not transmit voice..
Thnx,
Prady
rory - 14 Jul 2005, 09:43 pm
Some can stream audio as well as video, alot of them will record audio locally, and mostly the PC Based DVRs have more audio capability than a stand alone, such as more channels and streaming audio.
The one i was talking about we didnt get online yet and have to take some speakers down tomorrrow ... but ill let you know about the stream once its online ... its a Geovision .. ill try to get my Iview one here also streaming, just need to get the sound card driver working and plug TV audio into it ..
Rory
Thomas - 15 Jul 2005, 10:29 am
We don't stream audio. To be frank, we are not going to be the right solution for this problem.
