recording h264 versus mpeg4

getting a dvr does anyone no of the new recording format h264 is it any good is it better than mpeg4 is there any disadatage of getting dvr with this format

Depends on the implementation of the codec, the manufacturer has to specify lots of codec related compression options, if they get it wrong, quality suffers. They may set the compression to high for example. So really, its impossible to say which is best on a particular DVR without full specs, and a demo is best.

if all aspects of the codec are equal..........best with best, peaked and tweaked.H.264 is best. I agree that how it is built and then applied is important. the link above points that out to some degree. I'm talking from a perspective of what I read..........believe.
