I bet a lot of you know Bruce Schneier, the very famous security guru - http://www.schneier.com/blog

Every so often Bruce bashes CCTV. It's weird because he obviously knows little about cctv systems, what they do, how much they cost, how they are being used. Nevertheless, every so often he bashes CCTV.

He did it again this week and I felt the need to respond: http://ipvideomarket.info/review/show/139

Thought you might be interested. What do you guys think of Schneier's arguments?

Never heard of him, but will check out your article.

Schneier's site, by viewership, is the biggest in all of security. He is originally an Information Security specialist but now he comments on all things security.

Computer Security and Physical Security are 2 totally different things. I dont see where he has any experience in our side of it. And if thats the case, I dont find it worth even reading one of his articles based on that. IMO.

Very good reading on your end actually. I like the fact that you showed the total cost of hiring a police officer vs the cost of installing a full cctv system as well, that just goes to show you the overall value of a cctv system. Also keep this in mind with police officers vs. cctv systems...

CCTV Cameras cannot be bribed...
Don't fall asleep at the job...
Work 24/7 and don't get paid overtime...

Just a couple positives to the cctv camera vs the regular police officer.

Thanks,
John

In this country they just put a stop to hiring police officers, no more moonlighting for them.

Very informative, hopefully anyone who reads the first will be a little able to distinguish opinion from fact.
