timeouts in geovision webcam

I have a client who would like to have the remote view constantly running on a laptop at home.

After a while she is disconnected and gets a no privilege error.

Is this a timeout and can it be changed / is there a better way?

you need to set the bandwidth control in the WebCam server settings menu. If you leave it unchecked with no limits, it will request the maximum allowable banbwidth that the upload service provides, thus causing network congestion and resulting in time outs. It can also happen on your customers service if she has 4 kids all surfing the web and sharing the broadband connection. We always tell our customers that if you want dedicated system features and functions, then they need to pay for dedicated ISP service to eliminate these variables.

Simple method is to use the Multicam Remote View Software, much faster and no connection time out issues like the browser based.

Any tips on how to do this?

The multicam remote software is a progamme that needs to be installed on the laptop.

It is on the Geo cd that comes with the card.

its dedicated software instead of browser based so should give more reliable results.

But keep in mind that the Remote Client Software will only allow for one remote user at a time viewing the video. Just food for thought.

It eats bandwidth just for fun also.

also make sure that if they are loggin in with GUEST that its not set for a timeout after so long... other then that it could be your network

just use webcam to view it remotely no software to load and its easy to use from ANYWHERE in the world

Not strictly true, unfortunately.

If you go ANYWHERE in the world without your laptop you could be in for a nasty shock.

Ive tried a few internet cafe's and theres not a chance they will load active X,
for some reason the jpeg function will ,but this can not be used with enhanced security option in Geo.
