i have a plug in transformer that went bad,120vac in 16.5vac out 40va
what voltage is required for camera and housing with fan and heater.
is there a range? i thought that ac cameras were 12 or 24volt?
any advice is welcome

You would have to know the power requirements of the equipment to know the answer to that question.

12 Volts is usually DC & 24 volts is AC.

My experience (which is limited with fixed cameras) is that the housing takes 24VAC (for the heater and fan) and the camera takes either 12VDC or 24VAC (or either one).

Of course, the heater has the most draw. This probably the only reason 24VAC is necessary for the enclosure, as the fan is generally 12VDC.
