dahua or qvis 16 channel dvr, anything else??

thank you Rory, that is what i was looking for. it looks like these dvrs give you what the higher end dvrs do, at a much cheaper price. so the picture is good, the features are good, the remote access is good. any input on the reliability? have you had any installed for a decent amount of time? any known issues?

dahua or qvis 16 channel dvr, anything else??

anyone in the usa have one in use? anyone outside the usa using a qvis model?
  6. i see everyone talking about the new dahua dvrs, but does anyone in the usa have one to share their experience? do these dvrs meet all the hype? is it true that the only dahua dvrs in the usa are branded under qvis? i have been looking at the Qvis Apollo HD PRO and i think i have my mind made up. i will be replacing an 8 channel nuvico which works pretty well. any reason to not get one? thanks for the help as always. i love this site.

3 BIG buildings, need a lil help here

thank you for the detailed responses. i did not understand all of the lingo like "tailed off", but still very helpful. i might try to get power near the cameras, but then i run into the issue of having to place the cameras in those exact spots, and not relocating them later if need be. i am still thinking i would pull a cat5 to every camera. if i pulled 1 cat5 for 4 cameras, where would i make that split? these are high ceilings, i dont want to have cat5 switches inside enclosures up high or down low. cat5 and utp are same thing correct? and i am in williamsburg, virginia, usa

3 BIG buildings, need a lil help here

very helpful, thank you. i am used to pulling all of the camera wiring (rg6 and 18/2) with homeruns back to the dvr and power supply. i understand that with cat5 i can run 4 cameras off one feed from the dvr location. how would i go about this? a cat5 pull to a switch near the cameras, and then connection to the 4 cams? am i also doing power over the cat5? is it better to just homerun all of the cat5? i am very noobish with cctv over cat5 stuff. thanks for the help.

3 BIG buildings, need a lil help here

i need the pros to help me out here. i am currently quoting my largest cctv job. this job will entail 3 large warehouse type of buildings. the cameras will be analog. DISTANCE: most of the camera runs will be long, some as long as 500-1000' or even longer. should i use cat5 and individual active baluns for the long runs? and rg59 for any of the closer cameras? or is there a good way without extra added expense to use cat5 for all of the cameras? i would really like to use cat5 for everything, but i do not have experience with using cat5 for cctv. would i have to get a balun for every camera? this could end up being over 60 cameras. thanks for all the help

HELP HELP HELP panasonic cw484 dome camera making loud noise

I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!! there is a little fan that stands up along the outer rim when you have the dome off. the model number is copalf 251r if you ever need to look it up. it seems this fan runs all the time. i hit the fan with some wd40 and also tried to clear it out of any debris. the noise was still there. tightened all the screws, still noise. the noise was coming from the outer casing of the fan or something vibrating near the fan. so i pulled a macgyver and reinstalled the fan sitting on some foam tape. BINGO, NOISE GONE. thank you guys for all the help. i wanted to make sure i posted my answer just in case anyone else has the problem, although you might want to try another way of resolving it, lol.

HELP HELP HELP panasonic cw484 dome camera making loud noise

the picture is perfect, still switches from color to black and white. nothing at all changed with the picture quality or function. rory mentioned the part that i thought it might be "Electrolysis Dehumidification Device Functioning as an electric dryer, it reduces condensation by electrolyzing internal moisture and continuously discharging it from the camera." i was thinking this part might be stuck, but i dont know where it is or how to fix it.

HELP HELP HELP panasonic cw484 dome camera making loud noise

thanks soundy, you are always a great help there is no change in the picture at all, still functions the exact same
  14. my panasonic cw484 dome camera is making a loud noise. this used to only happen for very short periods, so i assumed it was some type of fan to remove condensation or something. now it is either always on or on for very long periods. the sound is annoying loud, which sucks because i have this camera inside. i opened the camera but i still cant even locate where the sound is coming from exactly. anyone have any experience with this? thanks for the help.

    what a dumb question

i think i was misinformed by someone who is supposed to know more about cctv than i. he said that using 16.5 vac transformers for 24vac cameras is fine. i am powering this camera location in question with a 16.5 vac transformer. the crazy thing is, i have 16.5 vac transformers for all of my 24vac cameras and i have not had any other issues. they are the same cameras as well. i did order a 12vdc power supply to power them all, so hopefully this will correct the problem. none of the runs are very long. im still scared to hook another camera to that location, i think i may have to re-run the power wire, cant afford to kill another camera.
