  1. Hi I am looking for open source/generic software that will connect and display the camera feed for a DXHD16 DVR. The software that comes with the DVR is not working to my client's satisfaction as it limits what he can display in each camera's tile in the layout. In other words, he cannot utilize the entire tile no matter what aspect ratio he chooses. The software is IPIMS.

    Samsung Smartviewer will not search

It had to do with the permissions on the DVR. The user logging into the software also had to be on the DVR with search permissions.
  3. I using Samsung’s Smartviewer to access a DVR of the local network. The DVR is an SRD-1652. When I attempt to perform a search I get the following error: “No permission found”. I get this message whether I am logged in as Admin or a user will full search rights. The tech support at Samsung suggested I upgrade to the latest version of the firmware (v1.12) and the software (v1.14.) I did both with no success. Has anyone encountered this issue, and if so, how did you correct it? Thanks you Michael
  4. We recently purchased 3 SRD-1652D DVR's. The spec and data sheets said the Ethernet port is 10/100/1000 Base T. The manual lists them as 10/100 Base T. I connected the 3 DVR's to a DLINK DGS-1008G Gigabit switch that has 8 auto MDI/MDIX crossover ports. I am using new cables that run directly from the DVR's to the switch. The switch tests the cables on all ports to determine the speed of the connection. The test indicates the Ethernet ports are 10/100 Base T. Does anybody know for sure if the Ethernet port on this model is in fact 10/100/1000 Base T?

    Samsung SRD-1652d

Hi Reddal Thanks for the feedback. I am currently testing the Net i-Viewer to see if it meets our needs. One feature I like is the expansion monitors. I will also be testing the SSM software as well - it dosen't require me to use the generic Samsung DVR device as it lists the SRD-1652 in the device list. The software can be found at: http://www.samsungtechwin.com/customer/down_productfile.asp?cid=83&clvl=0&cstep=2#151

    Samsung SRD-1652d

We are installing a 48 cameras system. There are currently 32 cameras on the system and we are using a computer as our video server. We plan to migrate to 3 sixteen camera DVR’s. The DVR we plan to use is a Samsung SRD-1652d. My understanding is that we can group the 3 DVR’s together in the client software and cycle through the cameras, displaying up to 26 on the screen at a time. Has anybody had any experience with this DVR and the software? I have been unable to find any reviews and would like to be able to get feedback before investing in the system. Thanks you.
  7. Has anyone had any experience with the NFHC-64 capture cards in a PC? It appears you can use 4 cards to allow for up to 64 cards. Is this actually possible and what kind of performance would my client get? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks Michael

    Version 8.5 and 64 cameras

Hi We have a client who needs to expand is camera system beyond 32 cameras. All of his systems are using Geovision cards and software. I have been looking at the GV-900A cards, noting that I can combine two in a PC to get 64 cards. However, the question I have is will version 8.5 of the Geovision software support 64 channels? If so, does anyone have any experience with such a system and what would you recommend as a minimum configuration? If not, how would you be able to combine the two cards as Geovisions card specs say you can? Finally, does anyone know if there are any preconfigured Geovision 64 channel video servers? Thanks very much Michael
  9. Hi I have installed a DVR-9218LV DVR for a client. Currently we have six cameras connected to it. We want to install a microphone with one of the cameras. The DVR has a single audio input on the back. How to I synchronize the audio with the video for that camera? Thanks in advance Michael
  10. Hi all Is their a means of remotely starting the scan for a PTZ camera with DMMultiview. While the camera is scanning I can access the menu and navigate using the up and down arrows. However, once I back out the scan stops and I cannot reenter the menu. It seems the only time I can enter the menu is while the camera is actually scanning. Thanks Michael
  11. Hi We are considering upgrading to the paid service for DDNS from DynDNS.org. Does anybody know the limit on host redirects? It would be nice to have one account that we could use for all our clients with DVR's and camera servers. We are looking at 5-10 redirects. Thanks Michael
  12. Hi all A client's server (GV 8.3 I believe) was down over the winter and we lost the registration with dipmap.com for remote access. For the life of me I can't recall how to re-register it. Is there a particular site I need to go to? Thanks Michael
  13. I have installed at DW-VMAX8 DVR. In the recording schedule I have marked that there be no recording between 8 am and 5 pm. Is there a way to prevent web access to the live feed during those times? I would prefer that we not be required to unplug the CAT5 from the router. Thanks Michael
  14. I have installed at DW-VMAX8 DVR. In the recording schedule I have marked that there be no recording between 8 am and 5 pm. I expect to be able to see a live feed and I can. However, when I search the recordings video is still being recorded. I have it set to record at all other times. Any idea what could be going wrong? Thanks Michael

    Geovision PTZ control

Hi All When setting up a GeoVision system we built our own video server. In order to control the PTZ Pelco dome cameras we are using a RS-485 to USB cable. While doing research here I noticed that there are GV-COM and GV-Net cards that have data converters. Are these necessary to control the cameras, or is my RS-485 to USB cable sufficient? I was wondering if these cards are doing some with the data from the GeoVision software before sending the control data to the PTZ camera. Thanks Michael
