I’ve had a WJ-HD 316 since they came out and never had any problems. However, the fans are noisy and a common complaint. The noisy fans are the nature of the 316 beast.

I don’t know of any cameras that don’t need power to run them. I also don’t know of any DVR’s with a built in power supply which is what you would need to power the cameras at the DVR. If you don’t want to run the power wire and video cable separately, you can buy video cable with the power wire built in and connect the power line to a wall wart or power supply. You also should consider the difference between 12 v and 24 v cameras, 24 v being the better choice in my opinion.

Like you, I would think that color mode would turn the IR off. I’m just saying that in case it doesn’t it would be worth a try by turning the IR off in b/w mode. The bottom line is I think you have a power problem and I hope the dedicated power supply solves the problem.

With this camera the IR on and off is controlled on a OSD in the b/w mode settings. It also looks like this camera does have some kind of smart IR.

At first, I was going to suggest that heaters might be drawing a lot of power. But to my surprise, I found that the manual doesn’t say the camera has heaters. As for the IR, you may want to read the b/w mode section again. Not sure but you may have to turn the IR off in the b/w mode settings and not just rely on color only mode to keep the IR from coming on. I would also agree with those above that using a 24v power supply is the only way to go with that camera.

It’s called focus shift. Focusing your cameras at near dark will help to keep the camera in focus both day and night. I would search the forum for more info. Some CCTV sales sites also offer info.

The green connecter looks like a 24V connecter to me. If you’re asking how to connect the 24V wire, all you have to do is strip about a quarter inch of the positive and negative sides of the wire coming form the power supply and push them into the holes. If the camera is 12V be sure to connect the positive on the positive coming from the power supply and the negative to the negative.

In my opinion, Soundy hit the nail right on the head. I’ve been using the same AC 24v model number ALTV244 and it has served well. I also use the Alronix R615DC1016 for 12v cameras. Altronix also offers the ALTV1224DC2 which contains six 24v AC and six 12v DC outlets. I’ve had these units for a few years therefore the model numbers may not be the same.

I’ve been running a HT7815DNV for four or five years now on 24v with no problem. Not sure but, if you have it set up to run on 12v there may not be enough power to run IR and or heaters due to the gauge of wire or distance away from the power supply. Just a thought.
