    Dahua DVR NTSC/PAL

In the General Menu do you have an option for PAL. If not you will need firmware, you should be able to request the firmware from the dist. company you purchased from.
  3. is the NVR prompting you to login when you click on Shutdown. Perhaps you did not log in with an admin account. NOt allowing you to shutdown the NVR. All Dahua DVR/NVR's require admin rights to shutdown/restart system you can try admin:admin or 888888:888888 then shutdown
  4. It is possible, I've set this up on a number of sites. sensor/contact cables will run to PTZ Alarm input 1 o2 Alarm input 2 In the Menu of the PTZ you should have an alarm input menu. in that menu you should see PTZ Activation or PTZ trigger , not sure what bran PTZ you are using or what they title the PTZ action. but you should be able to enable PTZ trigger Preset X upon Alarm input relay NO or NC forwrd the brand and model and possibly would be able to help more.

    PSS alternative ?

Hi, can you tell me what menu you are in that you setup to auto delete files. Do you mean you accessed the Configuration menu on PSS and set HDD-Overwrite? If you are backing up to a server(PC based) you can install a free program called Cyber-D's Autodelete 3.10 you can set the date and file size limit to auto delete. works well for me on my NAS Drive

    Firmware for Dahua Dvrs

be very careful with any files that you may receive from someone. Dahua DVR's are very specific to firmwares if you flash the wrong build to the wrong unit, you will now have a very expensive paper weight. As for the Alarm push notifications. From my understanding on the alarm push feature, your DVR needs to be statically set, and your DVR has to be one of the latest dual core machines. When I say statically set. I mean just that. Your DVR has a static IP from a range you purchased through your ISP. and you have that public address in the DVR's IP field

which DVR to watch on IPad

I have personally used the brand IC Realtime on my phone and iPad. The resolution is amazing when optimized at its fullest D1 30fps using their newest mobile app. 'ICRSS PRO' you can view live upto 16 cameras and playback upto 16 channels as well. Of course your network connection on the iPad and the upload speed at the DVR site play a very important factor in are you going to get cameras up at the push of a button or will you have to wait while the video loads, usually the loading of 16 channels takes about 30-90 seconds. my ipad can use 4G Verizon network and i can comfortably stream realtime 16 cameras. These are 2 videos I found on youtube displaying the app

Box camera vs Dome camera? whats the best?

Dome vs Box cameras... ok get ready Dome cameras can usually be installed indoor or outdoor, alot of manufacturers offer a vandleproof and non vandleproof camera.Vandleproof usually is $20+ extra, but worth it. vandleproof would be for indoor or outdoor applications so if a rock, bat, stick etc were to be thrown at it.. the camera would still be capturing the focal point. A non vandleproof camera would be smashed the dome cover is made of plastic and cheap plastic at that, most can be smashed with a closed fist. this would also matter on the way your installer hung that camera. more so the screws and anchors used and if they are secured and not easily "knocked" loose. meaning If you have a vandleproof dome installed but not secured I could whack it with a rock or bat, stick whatever. I might not hurt the camera but i can knock it off the wall and obstruct the view, the camera would still be good but not capturing me anymore, most likely facing the wall dangling there for you to see the next day. Lenses on Dome cameras are also not interchangeable like on box cameras. Dome cameras are also vari-focal or non varifocal (fixed lens). A standard dome is about 2.8 -12mm varifocal lens, also have the option of dome cameras with Infared Red (IR) to switch to a black & white video when the lights go out or in the dark skylight. Back to me knocking a camera off the wall, so for outdoor use with a Box camera... I would not even need to really knock it down. I could throw a rock, stick, towel, shirt, bag anything i could hang on this camera to block the view. or a rock stick etc would be able to knock the camera and the enclosure its in would face another direction. they also need to be mounted in enclosures if being mounted outdoors or want to offer any protection to the box camera from water, and vandalism A bat to a box camera would be an expensive whack. A box camera lens can be changed if you are not happy with the image or the distance, you can find some very good lenses that could match the price of the actual box cam it self. box cameras are not usually IR sensitive, so they can not been seen at night. hope that info is helpful, if I left anything you are curious about , just ask. box camera enclosure for outdoor use.
