    DDNS providers

hi, Looking for suggestions for ddns providers. Had a Google for free ones and see that no-IP provides a free service, however you need to sign in every 30 days or so, or download an update client to keep the IP address updated. We have a few sites where this is not suitable due to customers not living in the premises, or not feeling comfortable having an update client on their pc or app on tablet. Are there any other ways around this? Thanks
  3. hi, Does anyone know of any training courses for cctv install, fault finding, cabling etc that covers IP and analogue systems, initial searching throws up courses provided by tavcom. Has anyone been on their courses? Or reccomend a good course? Thanks
  4. Was looking into purchasing one of these to hopefully stop the buggering about up ladders adjusting settings, do they work with all cameras that have the osd joystick on them? Cheers

    SAMSUNG SRN-1670D LOST PASSWORD

try calling them, always respond to calls.
  6. Numbnuts.. see your tester, you wouldnt happen to know how to access the files on the machine to enable me to change the background to a picture with a company logo? Its just that i am on my second one now as some little theiving scumbag decided to smash my van window and grab it from under the seat. I have connected it up via usb cable but can only access the cctv folder showing recorded videos or pictures, I asked the seller but it turns out I would have to buy 50 of them and they would help me change it, thanks
  7. Hi, does anyone have the firmware available for any of these dvrs manufactured by videcon? VXM or VXH264? thanks
  8. I have just installed a supavu dvr (http://jsrcctv.co.uk/images/D1%20DVR%20Manual.pdf) concept pro ptz dome, microphone on a job and I am getting feedback of the audio. I have cabled everything back to dvr, microphone wired into audio in ch1, and a cat5 cable from audio out which goes to another room and is connected to a projector. I have also taken a video signal from the same cat5 cable. I tried wiring into mic in 3.5mm on projector, it stays normal for a second, and then the feedback starts, also tried wiring it into the rca audio in, but it is very quiet, with a very slight amount of feedback. would prefer to get the job completed fully when I return, so any suggestions welcome What I did notice though is the 3.5mm jack plug I was using had 2 wires and ground, (for left and right audio channels?) could this be causing the issue? thanks
  9. Thanks for the information. Would you say it would be worth going for the more expensive tester with the trd function, or would you say the toner that you have linked would do the job just as well?
  10. Hi, Currently on the lookout for a new test monitor, as the old one at work is on its way out, poor screen, battery life etC. I'm liking the look of the ones on eBay at the moment, the ones with the orange surrounds. Does anyone have one of these? One of the ones that you can control ptz cams with, multimeter, 1a 12v output etc. If so what are they like and would you reccomend them? I also saw a similar one, which has a blue surround, which can do ping tests, and tdr tests to show roughly where a fault could lie in a section of cable. Would it be worth the extra cash to purchase one of these ones? Also can anyone reccomend a toner which I could use with cat5, alarm cable, and coax? Thanks

    4-channel DVR,blue light flashing

Hi,if you are not getting any pictures on your tv, and just a blue screen, check the connections at the back of the dvr, do you know if it is coax cable or cat 5 and baluns thats used, if its cat 5 and baluns then check the cable hasnt snapped in the terminal, also I would check the power supply that is powering the cameras for blown fuse etc.
  12. cheers, I shall get one ordered soon and give it a try.
  13. hi, would a usb - rs232 lead work for the steps in a previous post? cheers
  14. Hi I have recently aquired a 16 ch concept pro dvr with a blown psu. After swapping the psu with one from a dedicated micros one (just to check it definately was the psu before purchasing a replacement) I am wondering if anyone has a way to upgrade the firmware on the unit or to put the newer vxh 264's firmware onto the machine? I have asked the question to Videcon tech, but as expected they said no it cannot be done. After reading a previous thread on here I found out that the concept pro recorders share a major similarity with the Vitek eh range of dvrs, http://www.vitekcctv.com/manuals/eh-manual.pdf the remote control is identical, the menu's look to be identical the backup player, the remote viewing screen, infact everything appears to be the same apart from the look of the dvr. On the vitek website it would appear that you can download the firmware for the eh dvr. Does anyone know if I could try putting that firmware on the unit? also how would it be done? ( on the vxm there is a option in the menus for updating firmware, i would think via usb) also how likely is it to go wrong and if it went wrong how straight forward would it be to put the unit back to default (as in a working vxm16) thanks
