Need some help with DVR system

The toshiba DVR's are good for small jobs, you can schedwel them to re-boot as many times a week as you want and they will re-boot if the power goes down, also they have network capabalties so you can controll it via the internet. as far as a infared camera just go witha good Day/night camera. all the manafactures make one, Panasonic, pelco, sanyo, samsung, philis ECT.

    Casino DVR'S

Rory you are right about pelco but this discussion is about Casino dvr A STAND ALONE dvr will never make it in a casino enviorment. For smaller apps I am sure the Kalatel would be great.

    Casino DVR'S

rory yes kalatel has been aroung for a long time but that does not make them the best, if you were to look at what system's sell the most you would see that Pelco probably outsells kalatel 10-1 I have been in this business only 10 years but I have yet to see alot of there systems, they did have a good run though when every body was using multiplexers though.

    Casino DVR'S

Hi Guys and queens, If you are dealing with any kind of casino you need to understand every casino is going to tell an intergrator or a box seller that they cant buy anything expensive. I think that is bunch of bull. a casino would not be in business if they were not making money. even the small guys are making money. using DVR'S like Katalel or sany in a Casino is a bad move. one thing the sanyo usit is like an Atari in playstation world. when you want to review video you have to wait for a buffer. other systems like AD they are mpeg 2. Most companies are working on systems that are H.264 most good ones are using MPEG4 and trying to work out the bugs of the H.264. another thing installing surveillance and installing systems in casinos is totaly differant and until you fully understand minimun internal controlls of gaming regulations and have acually been inside a casino surveillance room and spent some time watching what the observers do, and how they are trained to catch the bad guy, you have no business even thinking about trying to bid on one. casino Surveillance absulaty desivers the best recording as possable and when you are going to install a dvr system you should not install anything inferrior. Nice/Fast Endura PI Vision any of the companies that only manafacture DVR's and not all other kinds of equipment should only be in a casino surveillance room, Except the endura and I am not even a fan of that system but I would put it in a casino before kalatel, AD and espicall the Sanyo/Atari system. I do not want to get any body upset but this is a Forum and this advise I am giving usall comes with A $2500 a day invoice. take my advice when it comes to Casino surveillance use only the best because if you do not you will spending more money ripping it out that you will make putting it in. another thing to remeber a DVR is only as good as the camera that is taking the Video, remeber the old saying Garabage in garbage out.
  9. I think what KRCCTV is trying to say that your recording is only as good as the quality of a picture your cameras are getting. it does not matter VCR or DVR. There is an old saying in the CCTV world, Garbage in garbage out.

Camera Power Terminals - Feedback requested

I like the screw teriminals but if you use a really short flat head screw driver the spring loaded ones a easy, You just have to be smarter than the camera (LOL)

    Interview Room recorder

I like the stand alone dvr system, record it in real time and get a laroue ASK4 audio kit. you can put the mic in the ceiling and it will record the whole room. it is what we use for detention rooms in the casinos.

    Casino project

HI Sretooh, I have never heard of a casino wanting 3 months of video retention. the longest I have ever heard of is 30 days. according the NIGA wich regulats Indian casinos you only need 7 days. as far a having to use a web brouser, you should get your facts streight becaus any enterprise digital recording system weather it be NICE Endura by pelco or uvms or honeywell, cypics. any of the big players that offer digital recording all of them use a dedicated workstation and not a web browser. As far as pelco goes they have had 4 differant enterprise digital systems (DX 9000 series) witch none of them talk to each other, because Pelco does not make them they just slaped ther label on them. The Endura system is there new system. So far I have heard from very reliable sorces in the Casino industry that there have been alot of problems. In my opion the system is to new in the market to be considered a great system. Let them go two years without completely rebuilding the system and calling it somthing else and I will be sold on the Endura.
  14. if you can get a stronger type tile, put a 1/4 piece of ply wood and screw the domes into that. some domes are heaver than others, if it is just a plastic dome you should not have a problem, but if it is a armord dome it is going to be hard because they are heaver than the ceiling tile. if the camera is close to a wall mabey try putting it on the wall.
  15. HI Most indoor inceiling domes have clips on the sides of them. when you insert the dome there will be two screws on each side of the dome, just tighten thoes screws and the clips will come down a fasten to the ceiling tile.
