    Outdoor Lightbulbs and IR Cameras

It's pretty much dead center of the camera that is about 25 feet in the air. I'm trying some lower amber LED bulbs with some interior light fixture shielding toward the camera. We'll see how that works tonight.
  2. So I know cameras at night see in the dark and when you shine bright things in them its problematic. I have two lighted posts at the end of my driveway that cause a serious glow and make it difficult to see beyond them. I have to have bulbs there per neighborhood restrictions that require lighted driveway posts so those are staying. I considered shielding the lights on the camera side but then I lose the light for half the driveway. Before I buy a bunch of new bulbs just wondering if LED or any other type might limit the effect. I currently have three candelabra incandescent bulbs in each post so I'll probably reduce those to 2 or 1 to see if I can make it work. Any suggestions?
  3. So my speco DVR is old and needs to be replaced because speco sucks and it only works with an old Internet explorer. I have 8 coax speco cameras operating round the clock giving me about a month of recording. The coax has a power and ground wire built in that goes into a power box near the DVR operating at 12 volts if that matters. My cameras are speco Intensifier 3 bullet cameras wired into my DVR accessed by my PC mainly but also go through three tv tuners or whatever they are called to be viewable on three TV's. I'm looking to change the whole system but need to start with a good DVR. My quality is fairly low so I'm looking for higher quality but not expensive high end. I think my budget for the whole project I would like to be between two and three thousand and use the same coax cable. My house is incredibly hard to run cable so we don't want to go through that again. We just installed a DVR at work (Hikvision) but the PC software is glitchy. I'm looking for something solid that will last awhile. Any ideas?
  4. Wrong, there is a converter call EOC, ethernet over coax. https://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-Bonded-Ethernet-Adapter-ECB6200K02/dp/B013J7O3X0/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_bs_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=K32S2BCNHYQFF6110Y9T For 10 cameras that would be expensive!
  5. Thank you for your reply. I am looking at replacing my system because my current Speco DVR does not work with modern browsers and I just lost a camera. I was hoping with the cabling in place maybe I could research new cameras and a DVR and figure it out.
  6. OK, I thought I read in order to have an HD analog system you need either RG-6 or RG-59 cabling
  7. The cabling says Honeywell 16 AWG 2/C (ETL)30358 Type CM-CL2 Sun Res. (ROHS) W/O#716815-E34426 RM# A B C D E 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 My camera system needs to be redone and I need to know if I can go HD. I have 8 Speco Intensifier 2 cameras and a DVR. No idea if this is RG-6 or RG-59 I was looking for a nice Hikvision system to go into the home without rerunning all the cables since cable running in this house is a nightmare.
  8. any ideas of a decent one for cheap that works with my SATA hard drive?
  9. Is there a better way to go instead of CAT6 and IP? I was looking at Hikvision. How do I know if it has a color camera at night? My current analog system has that and the wife wants to retain it.
  10. So after a long and annoying journey I decided to replace the system I had professionally installed 3 years ago that is terrible. Wasted money. I have a 3-$3500 budget and need 8 cameras. 1 is a front door so I think a fixed dome would be fine. I'm going to have to remove the coax and replace it with cat 6. I want color day and night cameras and I'll need a good night time picture. I need varifocal bullet cameras with most being overall property view with one camera focused about 100feet away at the entrance to my driveway. I want HD with at least 3mp. I also need a dvr, i do have a SATA 2tb hard drive that i could use if possible. Can this be done with that budget and if so can someone help with recommendations?
  11. guess that explains it, thanks guys!
  12. I have speco intensifier 2 cameras throughout (8 of them) Bought this DVR to replace junk speco DVR that is not compatible with anything over Internet Explorer 10 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA3SC1ZS8796&cm_re=dahua_mini-_-9SIA3SC1ZS8796-_-Product Added the Hard drive and connected it and now it shows no cameras on the main connected monitor or when checking from the computer. The cameras are working because they are split to tv modulators which show on monitors. Is it not compatible with my system? I also have one new 960h camera that I got from a friend to see if it was any better than the speco cameras. It doesn't show up either. Any idea what is going on?
  13. My coax is run throughout the house and is stapled inside the walls so pulling Cat6 is not possible. Can I use a converter to make this work and if so would it look good?

    Can I change cameras?

Could I just change cameras to increase quality or the whole sytem needs to be changed?

    Can I change cameras?

I would like a system that works well, that I can view on my computer better. That I can actually access remotely unlike this crappy system. The locations are inn the soffits of the house mainly so I do need some zooming capability at the camera for setup. I don't need to zoom from the computer. I think a $2,000 budget would be about it for me at this time. If I waited a bit I could probably do another $1,000.
