Open File Failed - Firmware Upgrade

Disregard - I fixed it...had to rename the file =) Noobie mistake! =)
  2. Hello, Attempting to upgrade one of our units to the latest firmware off of Bahamas' Security website....I extracted the .bin file from the .rar compressed file and put it on a USB thumb drive. When I try to upgrade, I get "open file failed". I've reformatted the USB drive to FAT and FAT32 - same error. Any suggestions? Dahua 2.608.0000.6.R Firmware
  3. Hello, We have 4 Qvis DVRs (which are sooo much better than the Swann's that we had)...one issue that has popped up lately...we are getting a notification in PSS that the Hard Drive is full, and the red LED light is illuminated on the physical unit. All the devices are configured in nearly the same manner, and all of them are doing this. We have overwrite enabled so I'm unsure why this is occuring...thoughts?
  4. Hello, We have 4 Qvis units across multiple locations (will soon have another unit)...I am curious if PSS supports an auto rotating screen at full screen. In otherwords, can I have PSS display channel 1 at full screen before moving on to channel 2, 3, etc across multiple units? I've been unable to find documentation on this it appears to only have all the channels displayed at one page. Thanks
  5. Hello, Is this Dahua firmware compatible with the Qvis Apollo line? Dahua 2.608.0000.6.R Firmware From what I've heard, QVIS is manufactured by Dahua...but don't know how accurate that is. Thanks!
  6. Hello, I contacted Dahua directly regarding inability to use Firefox (without modification) and Safari (no support far as I can tell) with the Dahua line of DVRs. It was mentioned that Web Service 3.0 (Our DVRs currently have 2.0) will resolve this issue. The representative couldn't provide me any more specific information on when/where to get. Anyone know if this information is accurate and where to get the upgrade? Thanks!
  7. OK, as the subject line states, the DVR4-8900 from Swann has been a nightmare from installation to support (both phone and manual). I'm looking for better device that provides the same features (or more) for less than $400.00. Some of the main requirements: iPhone App PC Software Reliable Motion Detection At least Half D1 Resolution at 30 FPS GUI that uses a mouse instead of buttons on front of device VGA port for Viewing via Monitor I was looking at the ESDV4PRO but can't find a lot of information about it online..should be easy to find a DVR better than the Swann...least I hope so.
  8. Great ;( Luckily it wasn't money out of my pocket...It was 244.00 according to the receipt the owner provided. The CMS feature is most questionable - they can't explain what it does, how the iCENs software uses it or what IP needs to be entered into the unit.
  9. I've installed a new Swann DVR 8900 with 4 cameras connected to the internet. I'm not using the RS-485 connector for anything. All that being said, I'm confused on the "Event" section of the Setup GUI. 1) I'd like to have motion alerts emailed to a user 2) I'd like for Video Loss to be reported in an e-mail and audible tone emitted 3) I'm confused on the Event => Schedule section, its set to "H" currently. This is supposed to be continuous, event motion record and sensor record. If its supposed to continuously record already, what is event motion recording doing? 4) As i'm not using the RS485 port, I'm assuming that the Event => Sensor items should be off? The manual does a horrible job describing the features and configuration options. Tech support is about the same.... Thanks

SWANN 8900 DVR Unit - CMS Confusion

Yes - using the iCEN's software included - lets you login and view/control multiple DVRs on one monitor...guess I don't understand the difference except for maybe this feature would display te multiple units on the physical monitor instead of having to use the software on a computer?
  11. It's less than 10 foot - it's connected directly from the SW242 to a Netgear GS116E switch. I'm going to try to connect it directly to the DSL modem during their off hours to see if it happens as well.

SWANN 8900 DVR Unit - CMS Confusion

I'm able to do this already though with this feature turned off by using ICEN's software tht connects to many DVRs. Perhaps this is used to display it on the physical monitor connected to the rear of the DVR and not via computer screen? Turning it on simply asks for an IP address no user name or anything...the manual provides zero guidance ;(
  13. Thanks for the input - Wireshark once again has proved to be a lifesafer. There is a lot of IGMP traffic and broadcast traffic on their network - not sure if perhap this device just isn't able to handle it. One thing for cetain is that it's certainly shutting down the ability to login until a powercycle. We are in the process of convincing the owners to dump that unit - I believe it's around 5 years old. Hard to sell the case when it works - just doesn't work for one feature...remote access. Which all of a sudden they now want to use...
  14. Hello, We have recently tried to configure a SWANN 8900 standalone DVR unit. The iCENS software is working fine both remotely and locally - but there is some confusion with regards to the CMS setting found on the GUI of the device. What is this used for exactly?
  15. Hello, I'm attempting to resolve an issue that is impacting one of the operations that I support. This particular unit appears to have problems with Internet connectivity. It will permit you to view the cameras remotely for a time then refuse connections with "Login Failed" on Video Server E. This is usually rectified by powercycling the unit - it will then allow connections again for a while before eventually no longer doing so. I don't believe its specific for this particular device...several other units under the same brand seem to exhbit this same behavior. I know it's not an issue with the internet connections - it does this locally on the same network and remotely. It's currently running 2030-10-k8-04-aa-14 on all 3 devices...any suggestions?
