  1. My only ideas after research is a newer GoPro camera... The targeting laser on them is powerful enough to see in the daytime.... is there a possibility this hit that one IR cam for that frame, causing a flux of signal which jacked up that part of the HD? Only thing I can come up with,.....
  2. SO! My question is what device can scramble a DVR harddrive (wired analog system)??? Details of scramble... Caused several time gaps 4minutes before & after the truck flash. DVR is on rack in basement, metal siding & roof... After pulling what was left of the 264 files, I found 2 screen shots of the truck, one normal on that cam & one of the "flash". Both are attached... I know this is a flash, as this dvr's output records to another dvr 700' away. On this 2nd dvr, (frame by frame) there is no "flash" that knocks out the screen completely, it's HD is just fine, shows just a regular camera flash, from the looks anyways. Home owner noticed same truck in town 2hours earlier that was Clearly taking a few pictures of her... Yes they have road cams & what not, but this was the only shot of the flash. The primary dvr WD hard drive got scrambled, and the back-up DVR was fine. WHAT THE HECK CAN DO THIS!?!?!?!?! Not an EMP wave as only that camera showed this flash, the other primary files are damaged, but not "flash". I can only imagine a high end camera where the frequency of the flash matched that of the cctv camera? Thanks In advance! *** cannot load screen shots as they are 770kb, limit is 25

    Recommendation for Custom Camera Setup?

Zmodo has a new NVR system I set up a few months back. I'm more of an installer vs networker. This was not fun to set up. Cost me a 5hour learning curve, but 2hours of that was due to the customers router being a pos. The picture is nice & sharp, but IP cams are to bulky for my likings. I still prefer installing the good old analog Zmodos. Never have a problem (unless it is figuring out a custom run.) Although I've installed about 20 Zmodo's in 2012, I must say I do have beef with the grey-colored residential units. After the last one I set-up, the have made the circuit board 1/2 the size, removed half the options.... heck they dont put an alarm out on those units anymore! (edit: they also removed the cooling fans from this unit!!!!) not one, but the commercial units have 2! So, for now, yes I still recommend Zmodo $ for $, but I will only install the black commercial dvrs in the future, as they are still good quality. GL OP

    DVR lock boxes

I would find something that is close to what you need, then take it to a local machine shop, you'd be shocked at what the locals can get done

    CCTV Newbie looking for guidance

My IP Cam viewer works fine for out zmodo while on the LAN. My problem was IP conflicts on the other zmodo, 2 on one LAN gets interesting w/ the port forwards and what not.... If you have a dynamic IP, and it changes on you, you might want to use noip.org to link your ip cam app to...
  6. So, in the end, here's what got it! Passive baluns on both ends but no active needed, just a good ground loop isolator! It all works! Joy!
  7. I really want to get a system in my SUV... For under $150 I found.... A 2ch, Automotive DVR, 2 video ins & i audio in, 32GB SD or HCSD<? It also has a A/V out.. $65 A 2.5" color/audio monitor, 12v $20 Powered microphone One License plate mount IR cam, 120degrees On grill mount IR cam, 120degreed I see all these all-in-one st-up that go on your windshield, but someone would just steal it w/ everything else lol... If you have a set-up, what is it plz?
  8. Congrats on starting to install, I find it a great hobby. Not to mention there is a TON of HONEST charged money to be made in this day-n-age! Numb-nuts was right, ever system & every camera will be different! Conduit does look good in some installs, but in some not so much... Like you dont want conduit running up siding, I tuck it in nice & neat, never see it

    saving recorded files

I'm sorry but I'm lost??? If you have the network or 3g on, you can send images automatically to your email or phone in live time... As for sending a whole day of video, you can email it out in sections automatically, but never done it. Always easier to just plug in the flash drive.... More details would be handy...

    Android QQEye

I use "IP CamViewer" on my droid, works great, get the pro for 3$ and even better....
  11. Wow! Quite a rant... I've installed several zmodo systems now, never having any issues outside of troubleshooting issues on custom installs... I also only use bullet cameras, I never saw a need for PTZ as, for the $$$, you can have 8 cameras & another 8ch DVR for 300$, the same if not cheaper than having 1 PTZ alone..... So, nothing helpful, but good luck
  12. I can say, for the pro look, you all have nice poles! Mine was on a grave budget by the end, but will share anyways... They are 4" PVC Conduit, 5' base piece 3' in concrete w/ conduit ran up inside, and a 10' stick stuck on top. Some have a $15 lockbox for several connections. Are they weak? Ever try to snap a 4" section of conduit? Rather rugged for the money I take pride that for $25 installed & painted, they are very nice.... Other pro's, they are very easy to work with & have held up to all extreme weather so far. Yes in high winds the sway some, but not that much, barely notice and well worth the shots they give.... One could always use 6 or 12 inch for going higher or sturdier.... What's an aluminum pole cost, 250 to 2000 bucks?!

Using 940nm "bulb" as illuminator ?

How hard was the connections? Do they come w/ a pigtail?
  14. I saw these & thought for installs they would be a GREAT time & back saver!, not to mention getting the perfect height under any eve... Anyone have/had one? If so, how is it, what brand is it? Here's a link.. http://www.google.com/search?q=inspection+latter&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=qHe&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&biw=1280&bih=610&tbm=shop&sclient=psy-ab&q=+telescoping+ladder&oq=+telescoping+ladder&aq=f&aqi=g3g-m1&aql=&gs_l=serp.3..0l3j0i5.10000.10000.7.10779.1.1.0.0.0.0.107.107.0j1.1.0...0.0.HptuHxb5UY4&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=c2e4b4b9f354a49f They claim 300lb... hmmm
  15. Well, after not being able to figure out getting the video outs to go over 600' of cat5 to get to each others channel in, I've decided to go wireless...... Both Zmodo DVR's are 400' line of sight, but both mounted in basements... Goal is to have both dvr's bnc video out feed into each others channel 1 input.... I can run power/antenna lines up and mount under eve for line of sight... I also wish to have 2 receivers in a 3rd structure to pick up both wireless feeds, 300' from both DVR's.... This way we can see both dvr's on the TV or monitor in 3rd structure rather than on this 10" netbook.... Also, this will give both houses access to a split screen of the others cams & will give a back up recording of each others split screen.... Tired of trying wired w/ different baluns, active/passive, rca amps... nothing wired works..... Or would it be better to just run 2 cat5UTP between the two, but this would make for a LOT of work.... Thanks in advance! Tight budget btw
