  1. I need some advise on implementing a completely outdoor camera system. We can get internet to the cameras but there is no "safe" place to store a recording device. Anyone can recommend a good solution? Outdoor camera with local storage and remote streaming capabilities.
  2. What about an IP camera that can record to a NAS connected to the same switch?
  3. A while back I did a home setup using the Logitech Alert system which had the capability of recording to a memory card without a PC connected. Then a PC could be used to review the recordings (or the memory card could be taken out). I need a suggestion for an IP camera which will record to a built in SD card and allow the user to plug a computer in and review the recordings. I see Geovision MDF has storage facilities but does it work like this?

    DDNS Issue Remote viewing

Setup: ADSL Modem - 192.168.0.1 Computer A (connected wired to ADSL Modem) - 192.168.0.100 | 255.255.255.0 | 192.168.0.1 Wireless AP (connected to ADSL Modem) Computer B with Wired LAN and Wireless - Wireless connected to AP - 192.168.0.78 | 255.255.255.0 | 192.168.0.1 - Wired set up using Internet Connection Sharing - 192.168.137.1 | 255.255.255.0 IP Cameras connected to Wired LAN given IP Addresses 192.168.137.160 - 170 The cameras are all working. The internet on all the computers are working. But I am now trying to set up remote viewing and I hit a bunch of issues. 1. Computer A and B cannot ping each other. But they each can ping 192.168.0.1 2. On Computer B when I go to 192.168.0.78 I get to the DVR Admin page. 3. On Computer B when I go to 192.168.0.1 I get to the Modem Admin page. 4. On Computer B when I go to 192.168.137.1 I get to the DVR page. 5. On Computer A when I go to 192.168.0.1 I get to the Admin page. 6. On Computer A 192.168.0.78 goes nowhere. I signed up for a DDNS service. 1. On Computer A when I go to mycams.no-ip.org it sends me to my modem login which works 2. On Computer B when I go to mycams.no-ip.org it sends me to my modem login which works 3. When I use a computer outside of the network mycams.no-ip.org goes nowhere I have no clue what I am doing wrong. Help?
  5. I dunno but I see wireguy's point. If they fold tomorrow and your cameras start dropping like flies you are screwed. And that is your reputation at stake. When you see one pinto blow up after a rear collision...
  6. This sounds like one of those rhetorical questions. And not the good kind either So your vote would be no. Do you have an option around the same pricepoint? IP PoE Dome indoor MP? The Dahua price is so tempting and the quality of the images look decent. So what are all the people in here who love them do? Eat the cameras?
  7. I have used ACTi indoor and outdoor cameras for a year now and have had no problems (other than the 2.3 NVR software being terrible but that is all fixed in 3.0). I hear such good things about Dahua in here, then I hear about the reliability and I am worried. What is the failure rate on these cameras? I have a 16 camera job to do and I was considering Dahua. If i buy them thru Empire do they warranty them? How long is the warranty typically on the Dahua cameras? And are they that fragile? Should I just stick with ACTi?
  8. I got the answer from Luxriot. No. Apparently that is their biggest competitor so they do not support the cameras.
  9. I was not sure because that link said MFD110. The BL is not there so I will have to check out the BX or just go back with ACTi cameras. Do Dahua cameras work? I do not see them on the list for support. Any camera you reccomend in that price range?
  10. I emailed Luxriot but was wondering if someone had a quick answer. Does Luxriot support the following Geovision cameras: GV-MFD130 GV-BL130D

Advice: IR Camera + DVR for Office

I totally forgot another thing. Power. How can I send power to the cameras? I have used ACTi 3511 which is obviously a lot more expensive. PoE switch, run cable to camera, good to go. Would you have a suggestion for a $200 PoE capable IR dome camera with decent picture quality?

Advice: IR Camera + DVR for Office

QNAP I am not familiar with but I will check it out. I am under the impression that cctv cameras are more reasonably priced than IP, but that may not be true? I did not want to turn it into an ip vs cc comparison. I have used ACTi $300 to $400 cameras and love the picture quality but I am looking for something more in the $100 to $150 range, unless this is still junk. Would you be able to give me a suggestion for a mid level camera to use? Edit: I am looking at the QNAP SoHo system now. Looks very interesting. Thanks! Edit #2: The QNAP NVR outside my budget.
  13. Layout: Small, square, 600sq ft office space (think nail salon) Cameras: 1-2 indoor IR dome cameras no ptz needed. one/two way audio would be nice. tamperproof too. nice but not necessary. wdr nice too. DVR: Enough to record for a week which should not be asking too much for a 2 camera setup. Remote viewing neessary. Buget: I want decent cameras. Not low end, not high end, something in the middle. I am more familiar with the IP world. Axis, ACTi and how much good cameras cost. I do not know anything about cctv. Which brands are good? How much will a decent ir dome camera run me in the cctv world?
