  1. IEI is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
  2. Hi all, I am looking to install a key pad on a back door with an electric strike (currently a wooden door with cylinder style lock). Are there any entry level stand alone kits that anyone knows of for a single application? I would like to power it by a 12V transformer. This does not have to be a "kit" but if someone could point me in the right direction for an electric strike & keypad (preferably weather rated and backlit). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Need help deciding on DVR system

I guess that would depend on if you want to use any analog cameras with your setup. The hybrid will allow you to use MP cameras where you will want that extra detail but still give you the option to use analog which will be less expensive.

Need help deciding on DVR system

Hello Kaveman, I am by far not as knowledgeable on this stuff as much as others here, but I can try to help. In your your original post, you stated that you needed 1080p which is not analog. MP cameras will be over the budget that you mentioned. Also, you mentioned that you need 30fps. Both the DVR's in the systems you posted will be 30fps in viewing mode. However, it looks like the Samsung only records at 7.5 while the Swann records at 30fps. You want at least 6 channels, but only have 4 cameras in your picture. To leave room for more, I would look at a 8 channel. 16 may be overkill for your purpose. Mostly every DVR will come with motion detection. How much saving capacity you will get will depend on the size of your hard drive(s), the recording frame rate and resolution. I think you would be better off building the system yourself, and not purchase any "kits". Also look into cameras that are true day/night and don't need IR lamps to see in low light.

Thanks for the video! However, it is a necessity that I be able to control the camera via dvr.

I would be able to purchase it for $200 but I can't find an inexpensive controller. Even so, I don't think I can connect it to my DVR which I need to have the ability to control it remotely.

This camera has the BNC cable coming out, but only has three wires that go into a plastic plugin. The wires are white black and green. I have the Dahua ESDV-ECONO-4 DVR and it has the two RS-485 plugins. I am not sure on how to hook up the data lines to this camera? Here is a picture of the plugin on the camera:

The camera will be in a basement where color is not needed.

Hi guys, I would like your opinion on this camera for the price... It is a Panasonic WV-BS504 ptz camera. • Digital signal processing (DSP) black-and-white dome camera • Incorporates 1⁄3" CCD, DSP, pan/tilt mechanism, 5-50mm 10X zoom lens • 500 lines horizontal resolution • 46dB S/N ratio • Minimum illumination of 0.1 lux at f/1.2 • 500 lines horizontal resolution I am assuming this is an older black and white camera? The seller wants $300 and it is new in box. Thanks
  12. Thanks for your help. I may just see if they would be willing to substitute the upgraded camera in their package. Might as well get the better quality camera and be happy in the long run.
  13. Thanks for your reply! The cameras will be outdoor, but under a rooftop eve. Also, it is a smaller house so I believe I can use 100ft or less of cable for each camera. In the case that I did need more cable, will the standard power supply for the camera be sufficient or does that need to be upgraded with longer cable? At what length should I be concerned about this? For the money, would this model be the best all around camera? (meaning I could adjust the zoom to best suite its location) Qvis EYE-N35-V2G-N Outdoor Eyeball Dome Security Camera 2.8-11mm 600 TVL I would be very interested to know the difference in quality from the $165 and $68 cameras.
  14. Hello all, this is my first post and I am very new to CCTV equipment. I have a second home that I would like to setup a few cameras on. I originally saw a few Zmodo kits on Ebay but I heard you get what you pay for. I then saw a 4 CH DVR with a single camera for $200. Eventually I would like to have four cameras, but two will be fine to start out with. Is this a good system? Is the camera quality good ( Zmodo 420TVL vs Dahua 650TVL ) Are there any other manufacturers I am missing in this price range?
