  1. I added a new Hikvision DS7716NISP16 to a Comcast Business IP Gateway today. There are currently 2 other NVR w/ separate IP addresses connected to this gateway. I can easily view these two NVR's remotely with no problems. When I tried to add the new NVR with DHCP enabled, no IP address info populated the fields on the NVR no matter how many times I pressed refresh. I then tried to connect my laptop to the same port on on the gateway and I could not connect to the internet. I tried to allow the gateway to give my laptop an IP address and still had no success. I then typed the default IP of the gateway which according to the manual is 10.1.10.1 and had no luck connecting to the gateway set-up page. I then looked at the network page on the existing NVR and tried to manually add the subnet, default gateway, preferred dns's and an IP close to the existing NVR's. I had no IP conflicts but still was not able able to get onto the network with the new NVR. I'm wondering if this gateway only allows for two static IP's and the existing NVR's are taking them. I know if I could get into the gateway set-up and get the portforwarding working properly but for some reason, I cannot figure out what is going on. If anyone has some suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance, VC
  2. Thanks. That sounds like something worth investigating. Is any port forwarding required?
  3. Thanks for the tip. I have a Hikvision NVR that I would like to try it on. It's a Hikvision DS-9616NI-ST-8TB

ID or Serial No. based remote access

For Dahua, you have to use SmartPSS for P2P access. PSS does not support P2P (and I doubt they will update PSS any more). Is there an equivalent service for Hikvision NVR's? I'm planning to install a Hikvision DS-9616NI-ST-8TB NVR and would love to try this P2P option on the Hikvision NVR. thx, in advance, VC
  5. I have a client that wants me to install an NVR and he asked if there are any alternative ways that he can be able to remotely view his cameras without making fire wall and router penetrations. I told him that the only thing that I could think of was to add an additional DSL line to his house and to set up his NVR and a separate router from that DSL modem. He runs a business from his home and has a lot of critical information about many public companies financial analysis of new products and sales forecasting and is very concerned about that this private information could be compromised. If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate hearing about them. Thanks in advance, VC
  6. If you decide to use the built in POE feature of the NVR, I have been told to use the same brand camera as the NVR in order to make things go smoothly. There maybe some compatibility issues if you mix and match the brands.
  7. Thanks. I think I have it figured out to set up a tour. Now, I want to know if there is away to set-up multiple tours. Or a sequence of operations such as several tours and then a couple of patterns. Thanks in advance, VC
  8. Yesterday, I set-up a security cameras system for neighbor using a Dahua 8-Channel NVR with 8 POE ports. I have 4 cameras on this system. Channel-1 has the Dahua PTZMINI12X and channels 2,3 & 4 have Dahua 3MP bullet cameras. Everything seems to be working fine except for PTZ scanning. I can't figure it out. I set-up 14 presets in the camera settings camera initially and then went into the NVR set-up and tried to make the presets auto cycle. I was successful using this same approach for the same camera using a Blue Iris PC based system. Since I was not able to make the NVR automatically cycle through the presets that I set in the camera, I tried a different approach and went into the NVR's PTZ menus and set-up the presets within the NVR. I then pressed the auto scan button on the NVR expecting the camera to cycle through the presets and nothing happens. The camera just sits there in the last position I left it in. I know that the NVR and the camera are talking because I set up the NVR to make the camera go to one of the preset positions and the camera will swing its view towards one of the preset positions. Now I just want the camera to continuously cycle through the presets. Perhaps autoscan is not the correct button to push. I also noticed that there was a tour button. I don't even know what a tour is. I'm wondering if a tour is a sequence of presets. If that is the case, I just need help setting up a tour on this NVR. Any help will be really appreciated. If anyone out there has some advice or recommendations on how to set up a Dahua 8-channel POE NVR so that a PTZ camera will automatically cycle through its presets I would really appreciate the assistance. Thanks in advance,VC
  9. NVR admin account is locked. I think with all my attempts to get in withe iDMSS, it automatically locked. Before I can proceed with testing, I need to know how to unlock the admin account. If you guys have any ideas, I would really appreciate it. I didn't realize that these NVR's would automatically lock me out. Geez! Anyways, here are the results of my port scans. The port forwarding is for TCP/UDP for all ports listed below. Thanks in advance for the help. XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is responding on port 84 (ctf). XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is responding on port 554 (rtsp). XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is responding on port 37777 (). XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX isn't responding on port 37778 ()
  10. Here is a little more information. I have two surveillance systems in my home. One is on http port 82. That is my main system. I have hooked up the other system and assigned the http port on 84. While performing a port scan from a remote location, I received the following messages from the port scanner regarding the 2 ports. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is responding on port 82 (xfer). xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx isn't responding on port 83 (mit-ml-dev). xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is responding on port 84 (ctf). For my system with http port set up on 84, I can get to the login screen but once I type in the password, It says connection failed. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm obviously closer than I was yesterday. Last night I verified that the ports in question are both port forwarded in my modem & router. I had to log on to my comcast router to make sure that port 84 was opened. It was not at first and I could not even connect to the NVR login screen. The only thing I didn't do last night was cycle power to my modem and router after opening port 84 on the router. I'm gonna try that when I get home but I didn't want to risk taking down the family internet while the kids are home on xmas break and I was not hope there to fix it. Also, what do the network characters mean (xfer) & (ctf). It seems that, (xfer) means the port is completely open and (ctf) means that the port is partially opened? Thanks in advance & Happy New Year! VC
  11. I just recently purchased a Dahua NVRX16 and have been testing it on my network. I'm able to remotely access it via web browser and via cell phone using iDMSS lite when I'm on a home networked PC or when my smart phone has an IP on my home network. I cannot connect to the NVR outside of my network from a remote location. I currently have a Blueiris system on my home PC and I have no problem accessing it remotely so I don't think it has anything to do with my ISP or the router' or modem's inability to allow access. Perhaps my network is treating an NVR differently than a PC. I must be missing a couple of important steps. I have comcast cable as my ISP. I'm going to give them a call in bit to see they have any advice. Any help that you guys might have will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, VC Here are a couple of photos of my network settings:
  12. Thanks for all of your help. I got the system running as best as I can for an old DVR. I was wondering if there is an equivalent software package like the ivms4200 and the ivms4500 for the Dahua NVR. If you know of them please let me know. I've been playing with a Dahua NVR and wanted to compare it with the Hikvision. Thanks in advance, VC
  13. Thanks. I checked out the guide. It says that I'm supposed to email the serial number and start time of the DVR to Hikvision. Do you happen to know the email that should be used? Thx in advance, VC Thanks again. After a couple of tries, Hikvision sent the unlock codes. It finally worked once I rebooted the DVR first to get a true start time to match the S/N sent to Hikvision. Now I can finally start setting these DVR's up to satisfy the client's request even thought they are outdated. I gave them a quote to replace but so far, they are not interested: I have a couple of more questions related to these DVR's Can the time that an email notification on motion detection be set to happen during a certain period like between 2AM and 6AM? Why would certain cameras not be permitted to stream video? I get a messge when viewing through ivms 4200 sayingHCNetSDK.dll that "no more users can connect". Should I reboot the DVR to clear this error and to kick off the unknow remote users? When setting up the email notification, there is a box to check that says jpg and it list several time periods starting at 2s. What do these time period mean? Does the ivms4500 cloud service cost money? What is it for.. storage, remote viewing, etc.? On the motion detection screen, there is a large grid. Does the camera detect motion in the grid space? If I erase some of the grid space, is that area not included in the motion detection? thanks in advance, VC
  14. Thanks. I checked out the guide. It says that I'm supposed to email the serial number and start time of the DVR to Hikvision. Do you happen to know the email that should be used? Thx in advance, VC
  15. Thanks. The Spanish guide worked great. I got 3 of the 4 DVR's working well because they had the standard Hivision passord of 12345. Unfortunately, one of the DVR's does not have the default password. Is there a trick or away to find out an admin password or a way to perform a factory reset and clear the user stored passwords? Thanks in advance, VC
