  1. I have two WiFi networks (using DD-WRT). MyWiFi and MyWiFi_Guest. The MyWiFi_Guest network is Internet only, no access to local LAN. I have a device on MyWiFi_Guest but I want to access Blue Iris through the Android App through the external IP. I tried leaving the LAN IP in the server settings as blank. I tried putting the external IP in the server settings. I used a dynamic DNS as the external IP. None of them worked (Says unable to connect/resolve name). If I connect to another WiFi network or use Mobile Data, it connects. If I'm connected to MyWiFi network, it connects. If I'm connected to MyWiFi_Guest, I believe it keeps trying to use the local IP (which is of course disallowed) and so I can't connect. Even when I explicitly state the external IP to connect to. I am open to other solutions. Like keeping Guest network active but allowing only that device access to the Camera PC.
  2. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hfw4300s-398.html According to the specs, it says 3.6mm and 8mm optional. I'm not sure if that means there are versions available with those lenses or those are the only size of lens you can put in. Has anyone tried putting a 2.8mm lens in there? Are there problems?
  3. So I finally received the lens from the seller on AliExpress. I got the 1/2.7" version. The colors look good and the angle is much wider now. I am quite satisfied. I however just realized that the default lens that came with the camera is 1/2.5"... does that mean the 1/2.5" size was the compatible size and it would've been wider?
  4. Thanks MaxIcon, I asked the guy whose thread you linked me to and he said he got the lens off AliExpress. The previous lens I bought had very off colours but the specs matched so I wasn't sure this time. So will the 1/2.7" 2.8mm lens still give me a wider angle than a 1/3" 3.6mm lens? The two I'm looking at are this and this. The lens with 1/2.7" says 109 degree angle and the one that says 1/2.5" says 114 degree angle. So which one would give me a wider view?
  5. I have a camera with a 1/3" sensor (Dahua HDB-3200C). I'm looking for some wider angle lenses and the two that I found says 1/2.5" and 1/2.7" The size of the lens and the type of screw are all correct, can I use either of these lens?
  6. Hi, thanks for the link. That thread is the exact same problem I have. The IR Filters that you linked look like a very thick piece of plastic with the IR Filter sandwiched inside. Is that right or is it just a case/box that stores the actual thin piece of film?
  7. Where can I buy the right IR Filters?
  8. I got a dahua hdb3200c with the 3.6 mm lens but it wasn't wide enough. So I bought a 2.8 mm lens from ebay and from dealsextreme, both of which increased the viewing angle BUT the colors are washed out. They look greenish blue compared to the MEGA IR lens, my black shirt looks dark red (maroon). Where can I buy the same brand lens at 2.8 mm (or equal quality)? I noticed that the MEGA IR lens has this thin plastic red film on the back which I assume is the IR Filter while the two 2.8 mm lens I bought do not have this. Would the colors look less washed out if I put something like on the lens?
  9. I recently installed two of these cameras (has a 3.6mm lens I believe) and I don't find it to be wide enough. I was hoping to view from my porch to the sidewalk but it's about 2 meters short. I've read on these forums that the lens on this camera can be replaced with a 2.8mm one but I have no idea what I'm looking for. There are a few lenses for cctv cameras on ebay when I search for 2.8mm lens but I don't know if they're compatible. Can anyone tell me where I can get some 2.8mm lens that will fit the IPC-HDB3200CN Dome Camera? Thanks.
  10. Oh I see, when you said "BlueIris will work fine with the first two you have links for" I thought you meant the first two eBay links to the Dahuas. But if the Q-sees work with BlueIris then that's great. Aesthetics wise, I do prefer the dome-style. I didn't really think about the minimalist design to catch unsuspecting burglars. Although one could argue that the bullet style (they look pretty big and intimidating IMO) might scare off potential thiefs. Zoom I don't really care about, the night vision however I would like to have and it seems that the dome-style doesn't have night vision or at least not as good as the HFW3200C/QCN8002B. Although I do have motion sensitive flood lights in the locations I want the cameras to be.
  11. So the Q-see cameras with their custom firmware won't work with Blue Iris or similar? Only with the Q-see NVR? If that is the case, I guess I'll go for the Dahuas from eBay.
  12. So I was looking at some cameras for outdoor surveillance (about 4), and after reading around on this forum it seems that Dahua is a pretty good brand. I see these two cameras mentioned around here and they look pretty good for the price. ~$300 per camera. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2-0-MP-CMOS-Full-HD-Water-proof-IR-Network-Camera-IPC-HFW3200C-/200860295159?pt=US_Security_Cameras&hash=item2ec434dff7 http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2-Megapixel-Vandalproof-IP66-Mini-Dome-H264-Network-IP-Camera-1080P-PoE-3-6mm-/200816538700?pt=US_Security_Cameras&hash=item2ec199344c Now I see that there are two primary styles of cameras, dome-style and bullet-style. Can anyone tell me the pros/cons of the two types? I like the compact and sleek design of the dome-type. Makes it stand out less (maybe people won't even know what it is assuming the outer dome is tinted). But it doesn't seem to support Nightvision. The bullet style one has like 40 IR LEDs. Aside from the camera style, I've read that Costco sells a brand called Qsee that is essentially rebranded Dahua cameras (although i've also read that they're worse than Dahua). The only reason I would consider buying the Qsee over the Dahua off ebay is that Qsee is local and should I have any problems, I could return it to Costco. Buying a Dahua camera off ebay however is going to be troublesome if I need to return it. The Qsees I'm interested in are these ones (They look the same except for the last one which has what appears to be remote panning/tilt). http://www.costco.ca/Q-see-QCN8002B-IndoorOutdoor-1080p-IP-Camera-.product.100026667.html http://www.costco.ca/Qsee-QCN8001D-High-Definition-IndoorOutdoor-1080p-IP-Camera.product.100026666.html http://www.costco.ca/Qsee-QD6531Z-K-Pan-Tilt-Zoom-Camera.product.100021695.html Lastly, do these cameras work with software NVR like Blue Iris? Thanks.
