New to CCTV - need a little help please

hi x_saso, I too am having the same problem with a customers dvr. I have installed a 2.5" Hdd to reduce the load on the circuit board, but I am still getting the same reset problems. It is not possible to use an external usb hdd with this model, so my next step is to attach a 12v fan I rescued from an old sky box. I have wired this into the hdd power header ( red and black wires), and I have attached the fan to the heatsink with a small blob of blu-tack. I will put it on test today and let you know how I get on.

Cheers for the reply. Could you point me towards a web resource that explains the basics of what you describe. I appreciate that there isn't much info about this particular card, but a wiki on the generalities would be great. Cheers.

    DIO 0808

Hi, We are setting up security at work, and the boss got hold of a box of cameras and DVR cards. The 4 ch dvr cards were bundled with a small green circuit board which had the fitting so it could be inserted ion the back of the pc next to the DVr card in its pci slot. There is a ribbon cable that connects the two. Neither of these items has any identifying marks, serial numbers, make or model. However, there are also a couple of blue boards, with ribbon cables and the same PC fitting, that look the same as the green ones. these were packaged by themselves. This one is marked : NEW_DIO0808. I have googled this and only found a reference to a usb version. Does anybody have any idea what this board might be? What it does? and what I might be able to do with it? Thanks, Simon.
  4. Hi, I am trying to set up a surveillance system where we work. The boss got hold of a box of cameras and a DVR card. Its model is the XED4040. its got 2 dvi breakout leads, one for audio and one for video. Unfortunately, we have no disc, no manual and no box. It was in an anti static bag when we got it, and it looks like it hasn't been used. I read the post about pirate cards, which I wouldn't know from my elbow, but if this is one, please let me know. Has anyone come across this card before, does anyone know how I can get it working. I put it in a pc running windows 8, and I couldn't even see it in device manager. I googled it and it's made by a company called COMART. But I couldn't find any links to drivers or software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
