  1. Hi all, I have a perfectly working 8 camera system comprising of the following: 1x DS-7208HQHI-SH 2x DS-2CE56D5T-IT1 6x non-branded vari-focal domes Recently a neighbour has a professional installation completed (vs my DIY) and it looked a lot cleaner so I thought it was time to re-wire the outside part and with that in mind, I thought about potentially moving to POE. I think part of the cleanliness is the thinner cables compared to my much thicker coax cabling. So what is the current POE alternative to the above? ie: what is the current 8-channel Hikvision poe alternative NVR, the current alternative Hikvision POE cameras to replace the 2 above and then 6 POE non-branded but good quality domes. I probably won't go ahead anytime soon as things ... work but with me, you never know! Thanks in advance
  2. Hi all, I know there is an on-going thread but this is potentially somewhat different scenario. I have now got two of the above boxes - my own which I am very happy with and it works fine and a new one I got from Amazon on Saturday. The issue is as it was from Amazon marketplace, it has technically been used even if it is just an open box and send back. In my case, it seems it was powered on, a password set and then returned for a refund. I have contacted louiseliu but I suspect due the new year, I am not getting a response. I also know that there is no such security code option via SADP for this specific unit and the only way is an export/import. Having done this, I have had response from Hikvision with a file that failed - I expect this is due to having switched the DVR off after sending the file? On replying back to them, the response I then got was that as it was an Amazon issued DVR, they are not official sellers and therefore no further files or support will be given. So I am now in limbo - I have put a refund and return request in which Amazon are more than happy with but I wanted to know if there is a chance to revive this DVR by a password reset, I would rather do this - it's a good box, it's one I am familiar with as I have one already and it was a decent price. So what do you think? Is the export/import only unlockable by Hikvision? Thanks in advance
  3. Hi all, Newbie on here though I've followed a number of threads on here. Following a bit of a bargain on a site, I bought a 4 camera Swann kit. I've had a number of issues fitting it due to the way the house is so I only managed to get one camera up facing the front door from inside. This has been working without any issues and recording 24/7 quite clearly though motion detect email is not working but that'll be another thread! I finally got round to fit the garden camera. While this works, both cameras how now got what looks like smoke going across it when you look at it online or via the phone. Clearly interference of some sort. Looking more closely, you could say its horizontal lines. I'm using a Cat5 cable bought from a company called mie-cctv. (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320769622197) The CCTV kit consists of the main DVR and 4 cameras along with another plug that has 4 wires coming out of it to power the cameras. Lastly, the ends consist of BALUN adaptors as per http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320691761031 And male/female power adaptors: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220745730200 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220733759090 Wiring is orange : + Video orange/white: - Video Green + blue + Green/white = + Power Brown + Brown/white + blue white = - Power on both ends. Appreciate any help on this - I am fairly new to all this so do dumb it down :- ) Thanks in advance
