Lorex NR9163 - Camera Subnet Access

if u can not see the cameras after plugging them into a powered eithernet switch on your home network and u can't see them the you will need to change the ip block of your network... i couldn't see the 4k cameras when using 172.16.0.1 block...

    8tb lorex nr900

ok i popped in two 8TB WD red drives i got from bestbuy, shucked the usb shell and installed. I got the Thailand drives as they got 256MB sram. booted the dvr and they reported as 7.27TBytes, well first one slightly smaller as the os probably puts a swap(?) partition on it. I only connected one camera, but so far this dvr is much quieter then the lnr280 dvr. Now to install and see how they perform...

    8tb lorex nr900

Will 8TB hard drives work in Lorex NVR NR900 series? Lorex says only up to 6TB are supported. i have NR9163 and two WD Easystore 8TB usb dirives i'm going to teardown and try... 139 at best buy.

  6. I get thousands of login attempts a week, alarm on the dvr goes off. I log packets to my dvr on my router and then block the ip address. Some times the dvr says the ip is in the private range, the logged packets say otherwise. i believe these attempts are attempting some kind of exploit to get in. I wish it would be possible to block admin log in remotely, only at console. But i've changed my admin password to a hardened long password..
  7. Ive had the camera offline issue before, progressively got worse until the power supply failed. replaced the power supply and have only had one camera go offline since in over a year, the 52v rail failed. It appears to be a individual camera crashing issue due to power quality issues to the cameras. A cold start on the dvr is required or unplug the RJ45 cable is require to reboot the camera.
  8. the 52v rail on my power supply failed, prior to power supply failing completely I was losing cameras randomly. replaced power supply and everything is good again...
  9. the 52volt rail from my power supply failed, prior to that it was dropping cameras... lorex lnr-280 with 8 cameras.
  10. i just lost the 52V rail on my power supply!!!! all cameras where off (I saw no led glow at night) and lost connection with dvr, confirmed with volt meter.
  11. I have a year old Lorex 280 NVR with four cameras from Costco. I added 4 more cameras and a second 2TB green drive. Had to RMA the DVR once as it would lockup, but the replacement has been solid since i upgraded the firmware (before cameras would randomly disconnect before firmware update).

    LNR280 series crashing

With a IR thermometer, yes the side fan is working. I'm thinking of blocking the left hand vents so the power supply fan will pull more air across the motherboard from the right side. my fan is small and stands about quarter of an inch from the right side of the case. i'm thinking of creating a wind tunnel to channel air over the cpu from the tiny fan. The switch chip also is about 130 degree C! I have 8 cameras connected to the dvr. at night the dvr pulls about 120 watts from the wall, but during the day it is about 57 watts (watts is from memory).
  14. Anyone else having problems with their LNR282 locking up? My processor heatsink measures 130 plus degrees C.
  15. I logged into hikvision and downloaded hikvision tools and ran the sadp tool which will find the camera on my network. i used a 12v wall wort from an old hard drive to power up the camera. I had to change the IP adress of the camera to something on the class C network ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network ) and then i could log into the camera. don't declare a port with the ip address (ie. port 8000), just the default 80 web port and change the password. ftp://ftp.hikvisionusa.com user name: hikfirmware Password Hikvision123 (note the H is capitol )
