Ahhhh....thanks Lucky!! Got it. I setup both an http and TCP forward and it works great! Cheers. Another question: I use ATT and the IP address will undoubtedly change at some point. I use DYNDNS with a hostname. iDMSS won't accept the hostname as the "address". How do you combat the changing ip? (besides buying a static ip from ATT)

The port settings I have in router/camera are in the image below. I would be more that happy if someone would take 5 minutes and I can share my screen with them. @luckyfella, when i'm using a browser on the iPad, it uses TCP? Or are you saying that if I use iDMSS from the iPad, it uses TCP? If its the former, the setup is correct because I can remotely connect the camera's UI using the iPad's browser. Sorry, I've a fool when it comes to networking...learning tho.

Thanks for the replies. I just had an opportunity to check camera's away from home using iDMSS and same result; The login times out. I CAN login to the camera's UI via a web browser remotely which tells me it's not a camera or port issue. That being said, I double checked with canyouseeme.org and yes, port(s) are open. I'm stumped. I'll continue trying and if there's a breakthrough, il post back.

Hello, I have a security camera and iDMSS to access the camera's stream both locally and remotely. Locally, there is no issue using iDMSS. However, when setting up iDMSS to access the camera remotely, the setup process can't be completed. When testing the connection, the login "times out" after about 5 seconds. (I'm on ATT LTE with a clean signal) I know port forwarding is setup correctly because if I type the ip address into a browser remotely, it connects the camera's user interface. Thoughts? I've included an image.

Hello, I have two PTZ IP camera's that have alarm input outputs. My understanding is that certain "triggers" will set off an "alarm". I'm looking for creative triggers and alarm ideas ... what my options maybe. I've heard of strobe lights and sirens as "alarms", anything else? Any creative triggers? Thanks.

Thanks both of you for the replies. That gives me some food for thought. The camera's will be installed in hard to reach places so I want to run the right cables all at once. I'm not sure Lucky...wasn't 100% sure what those were are hence the question. I'm still not 100% sure what types of "alarms" are available. But with dorough's comment, it gives me an idea and keywords to research.

Hello, I just purchased 2 Dahua SD3282D-GN security camera's (http://goo.gl/7zhqso) and the products setup/potential is collegiate level while I'm still in grade school. I am hoping someone can give me a couple pointers for the most advantages way to setup. (even better, are you in Dallas? Ill buy you a beer!?). The camera has 5 cords coming from it (see image) The big Q's are: -This thing is PoE ready or so I thought...in the specs is says "Micro SD card, PoE" as one item. Would there be any benefit or reason to plug it into a wall? (maybe i'm missing something big here.) -Are the Audio in and Audio out for a mic and speaker? Does this mean it "listen's" (Audio in) and that I can speak remotely into it? -Alarm input/output (#5 in image)...what the heck can I do here? I see 5 connections: Alarm_Com, Alarm_Out, Alarm_In1, Alarm_In2 and Ground.
