Hello all, I have Hikvision's DS7204-HFHI-ST DVR installed and working. Everything is fine except for one major issue, it breaks every video around the 1GB mark. In other words, if a recording is over a gig in size, it stops at 1gb and continues recording in a new file. This means that I have a TON of files for any long recordings. This is a problem as it is in a law enforcement facility and unbroken/fluid video is imperative. Hikvision tells me that there is nothing I can do, it's just how the DVR works. They also informed me that they don't market HD-SDI DVRs here in the states and that is why they don't recommend buying form on-line companies. Little did I know.... Any ideas on what I can do here? Is there software that can record from the DVR in real-time 1080p resolution with no loss in video/audio quality? Are there any recommended HD-SDI DVRs that will not break the recordings up? There are no volume controls that I can find, other than during playback. I'm still trying to sort it out at this point. Thanks, Z

Hello everyone, I am working with a Hikvision DS-7204HFHI-ST. It's an HD-SDI DVR unit and is working great. The one problem I have though is with our microphones. We're currently using some small, powered, "high gain" microphones that work well with the old system that is in place (background on that below). When used with the Hikvision though, it is not nearly loud/sensitive enough. These are the mics... http://www.securitycamerasdirect.com/products/high-performance-microphone-pa3 I'm really not sure how the audio works and how I might amplify it. I don't want to guess and risk damaging the DVR either. Basically, how can I get a good quality/sensitive audio recording with the DVR? I've looked at various amps but they are all for driving speakers. The DVR audio input jack specs are 2.0 VP-p 1k Ohms. And... I'm not opposed to replacing the mics. They just need to be able to be hidden in an interrogation room. **The current system is an old analog system that passes through a VCR and into a video capture card on a PC. I'm assuming the VCR or the PC is amplifying the mic as it is much more sensitive in this set up. Thanks for any help! Z

Hello all, I need a little help designing a system. What we have now consists of 2 cameras w/mics going into an A/B switch, the switch going into a VCR (not for recording, just to make the signal usable), the VCR going into a splitter that goes to a PC for recording, and 4 separate offices for viewing. What we want is to record from both cameras simultaneously, w/audio, and have the ability for each office to view the cameras independently from each other, or view both cameras at the same time. I am not a security/camera guy, so I'm a little confused. I'm thinking a camera server may be the best bet, but I'm not really sure. Also, I think I need to stay below $1000. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -Z
