  1. It's a Q-See QC828. Did your's boot at all? Mine is stuck in a re-boot loop...
  2. Fan is 2 pin. I should at least see something in Ncom, no?
  3. Well I had a knowledgeable buddy come over with his high end USB to serial cable and the best we could get out of it was {RXERR} when it was powered up. This only happened with a null modem (cross over) cable. Unless someone can add anything useful I think I'll pronounce this thing...
  4. Tried asking in the General forum but no response so figured I'd try here. I have a re-branded Dahua NVR (Q-See) that's stuck in a bootloop. It never beeps, just tries to start, the fan stops and it tries again. I've been reading here and elsewhere for days and done all the prelim stuff like disconnecting the HDD, trying another power adapter etc. I'm pretty sure the firmware is corrupt (hacked?) and am trying to re-flash it with TFTP and a serial connection with Ncom as described here: http://www1.dahuasecurity.com/download/TFTP%20upgrade%20instructor.pdf I have the latest .bin file from Q-See (renamed it to update.bin as read somewhere) but think I need other files as shown on pg1 of the guide. Files found in 4XXX series (also 8 channel) in DH_NVR4xxx_Eng_P_V3.201.0000.0.R.20151120.zip here look very similar: http://dahuawiki.com/images/Firmware/ I'm using an old 32 bit XP machine with a serial port. I open TFTP and it has the XP machine's IP (127.0.0.1) in the header. I open Ncom and it shows "Com 1, 115200bps" in it's header. I have an ethernet cable connecting the two machines and it shows a connection when I power up the NVR but nothing happens in Ncom (no bootlog). I turned off Windows firewall but with it on it doesn't complain so there's no traffic from the NVR. I read someone needed a null modem cable for their NVR so I made an adapter but it didn't make any difference. Is this thing really bricked? Is there anything else I can try? Thanks in advance for any and all input.
  5. Got a bricked Q-See QC828 NVR, won't boot, tried everything. Support no help. Poking around I came across the "TFTP Upgade Instructor" on the Dahua site: http://www1.dahuasecurity.com/download/TFTP%20upgrade%20instructor.pdf I found the latest .bin file but need the "armboot-x.bin.img" mentioned in the instructions. Is it a "generic" Linux file? Any idea where to find it? Also, I see posts that mention the new .bin file has to be re-named to "upgrade.bin" and the armboot-x.bin.img to "u-boot.bin", anyone confirm this? I have an old laptop with a serial port and cable, I think this is my last chance of un-bricking this thing.

    Q-See NVR won't boot.

Thanks for the reply but I was told by Q-See support (and read) it should boot w/o the hard drive. Apparently it's a re-branded Dahua. Is it possible to re-load the firmware if it doesn't boot?
  7. QC828 POE NVR was running pretty flawless for about five years but quit recently and won't boot. Tried w/o hard drive, with two different hard drives, checked both NVR and camera power supplies, nothing on the board look fried and the caps look new. Fan comes on and hard drive spins up but no "beep" and nothing on HDMI output or video out. Can't access through Smart PSS, no video. Ideas?

    QC828 NVR keeps quitting?

I believe I found the problem and it was nothing on any of their support sites. It's the HDMI connection. It would try to reboot when I selected that input on my Pioneer receiver, so I unplugged it and it's been sold for over a week now. I only need the HDMI when viewing from my tv (to access menu items) so no biggy.
  9. Running fine for about 3 yrs, recently it just stops working. Support tried to help me with re-booting issues but that's not it really. Obvious stuff like power etc., checked, it comes back with a reboot. Any ideas?

    A beep sound

IIRC there's a function to re-boot automatically each day, I'd look for that...

    Q-see Smart PSS stopped working.

Thanks much for the reply, it's working again this am, I haven't changed anything on my end, swear! Here's the reply I got from them: Hello Terry, Thank you for writing back. We are currently having an issue with the software, we have escalated to the Research & Development team. It would be identified and we would work on the issue and come up with a resolution as soon as possible Thank you for contacting Q-see Support.

    Q-see Smart PSS stopped working.

Did reboot, was hoping to not have to reinstall it, any other ideas?
  13. Everything running fine for months then yesterday the software just quit, all still working fine on the NVR. The login screen comes up and when the correct p/w is entered the screen disappears and nothing else happens. Task manager shows no activity. Help!

    Help! Q-see NVR resolution reset?

Maybe this will help someone, I connected to the BNC video out with an adapter cable to the yellow video in on the TV, it shows in all resolutions with that output. TV wanted 1080 x 720 to show HD with an HDMI cable.
  15. Got a new QC828, fired it up and nothing on my TV using HDMI so plugged it into a monitor and wala, got the initial setup done. Tried to change the resolution to work on my HD TV and now I get nothing on either. Any way to re-set it? Of course I tried unplugging it but to no avail.
