  2. Deep breath. I just had a similar malfunction with my Swann setup, after bringing it home this afternoon. Found this thread looking for some help. But... Anyway, I hadn't even connected it to anything except the 4 basic bullets that were all on the front grass, pointed randomly, just to test. I did a little slapstick thing in front of a camera and replayed it right after. Plays perfect. Two hours later, I go to show my wife and IT'S TOTALLY GONE, but other footage is STILL there. And then the live view goes BLANK. But that's when it gets weird, as right then my slapstick hating neighbor pulls up and rolls down the window and FLIPS ME OFF! Before I have time to react, I hear the squeal of same neighbor's son's pickup truck launching out of the driveway. In his hand was a long rod-like device with what appeared to be an amplified light source, stimulated to the point of emission, radiating from it. Pretty coherent too. Question: Was there a fix determined for this bug? Maybe just new firmware/neighbors? Somebody should go flip Swann the Bird.

Those encoders I linked to are basically just DVR's without drives.

Have a look. Side by side D1-Left and 960H-Right with Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction of .7331 at 100% Magnification http://i.imgur.com/JE1VZJY.jpg Side by side D1-Left and 960H-Right with Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction of .7331 at 1000% Magnification http://i.imgur.com/fW9D604.jpg Hardly anything to brag about, but clearly not stretching either. A (very) little less pixelated in general. The 0 in the license plate is better. This adjustment for the elongated pixel should be done by your 960H DVR, which makes it the correct image aspect ratio. Why it is not doing it I don't know. Have you tried viewing from the DVR directly? Try it yourself if you have photoshop, under view change the Pixel Aspect Ratio to a custom one of .7331. Good luck!

Here's the short answer: the pixels are not square, they are double length rectangles. That's why you get more horizontal detail but same vertical. That's why the fov doesn't change. You may not notice the extra detail when looking at it distorted in width. Your Dvr should display it without stretching. If your Dvr only shows it stretched, and you want to verify more details then take a snapshot into photoshop and use the non-square pixel option to make the picture look right. Here is a free PUBLIC article on 1280H on IPVM which mostly applies. Note John H. who wrote the article, at least initially, believes it is just stretching. But about 1/3 way down in the comments look for J Hall and others to set him straight. http://ipvm.com/report/worst-hd-quality-camera

Everyone who knows 960H, knows that it is at best a marginal improvement. And anyone who knows better, knows that Samsung has raised the bar (or widened it), with their 1280H offering. Check out this truth-stretching techno-brawl on 1280H on this well known 'industry leading' ip camera site. (free article) http://ipvm.com/report/worst-hd-quality-camera
  8. I heard Soundy say once that he's And then he mentioned that the last time he or something like that. Hope he helped!
  9. I have a Stardot 5MP, It's got 48V POE in, barrel 12VDC in, and biscuit block style 24AC in, all going strong at the same time, so there! Edit: Correction, I had a Stardot 5MP...
  10. And what will happen if u use 12 V and PoE at the same time ? Hint: There is no POE on this camera, that's why he's using a splitter...
