  1. quick update. it looks like the motion triggered pictures work now, albeit i don't think i did anything different to get them to work. it was simply a matter of time of letting the camera stew on them overnight. did anyone figure how to get FTP to work with these cameras? when i enter my FTP address using a well named hostname (like a windows azure address), it is telling "wrong server address"
  2. i use gmail with SSL, which is the way it has to be configured. Configure Gmail SMTP port as: 465 Configure Gmail SMTP TLS/SSL required as: yes. i am not using an NVR though. this is using the camera straight out of the box.
  3. hi guys, i am fairly knowledgeable with IP cameras, but i seem to have hit a brick wall with a new set of cameras i got from Costco. these are the fairly well known (at least in this forum) Swann IR 3mp bullets (rebranded from hikvision). Most likely they are Hikvision DS-2CD2032. I am not using an NVR with them, meaning i wanted them as standalone cameras with the ability to send me motion detection images and upload to an FTP server any motion triggered video. Some details on the camera: SWNHD-825CAM is what it says on the web server of the camera When i click the "?" the versions it says are -Web 3.1.3.130304 -plugin 3.0.4.6 I set up events using email address by SMTP from both Gmail and Outlook.com. Neither of these work and i never get any email alerts. I did enable motion detection triggers, my arming schedule is 24/7, and i did draw the area for motion detection. what else could be wrong here? i can view my camera over rtsp port :554 from other computers so i know it is connected. as a precaution, i tried it both using DHCP and using a static IP address with the proper DNS settings. nada More worrisome is the fact that the log portion of the UI records nothing for motion detection or any other alarms or triggers. can someone help steer me in the right direction? thanks in advance!
