  1. I've order these types... the ones you get when you google... from Amazon and eBay. They are usually mixed results... some power up the the DVMRE's fine and some won't. I've got a customer that has 8 of these in a rack... they've got a mixture of supplies. I'm trying to find a reliable replacement.
  2. Does anyone know a good replacement for the power supply for the GE / Kalatel DVMRE ? From what I understand, the power supplies are no longer being produced. I haven't been able to find a good replacement.

    Bosch Access Control

Isn't the ReadyKey system the same as Lenel?
  4. we went ahead and used the Cypress equipment. It worked really well. Does the Trango equip work with 485 Comm for card readers? I've used it for video in the past.
  5. It seems that there is nothing on the web for support for card access systems (or maybe I just haven't found it yet). Is there a forum/message board dealing with card access systems out there? I know this site has a section but it doesn't get much traffic at all. thanks for the help.
  6. thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to look into the Cypress equipment next week.
  7. Does anyone have a solution for the following? What we have is a Lenel system with a 500 access board and a 1320 reader board. The 1320 will be installed remotely and will need to be a wireless connection. Supposedly the data link between the 1320 and the port on the 500 is RS485. We've tried using a VideoComm wireless transmitter (http://videotransmitters.com/) but it will not transmitt the data for some reason. We've spoke to Lenel and VideoComm tech support and haven't gotten anywhere. If we put a cable between the 500 and 1320 (on a test bench), it communicates fine so I know that the boards are good. We've tried different baud rates but still no connection. There are no other settings for the data (ie parity, stop bits, etc) according to VideoComm tech support. The distance between the 500 and 1320 once installed will be about a 1/4 mile. That rules out the Schlage wireless. Has anyone tried doing this or have another solution? Thanks!
  8. This usually happens after the lock has been installed for a few years and the corrosion builds up and it's a little too tight for finger pressure... although I did have one on an interior door once that would just spin... I never could get it removed.
  9. I was trying to remove an old maglock armature the other day and the sex nut kept spinning not allowing it to be removed. Does anyone have any tricks or maybe a tool to hold the sex nut in place in order to remove it? Some I've pried a screwdriver between the head of the nut and the door to hold it in place. Some I've just had to leave on a door. Thanks in advance!
  10. For all of the techs out there, how do you get paid to travel to service/job sites? I'm not talking about "out of town" travel but in town travel. I service and install access control/CCTV for a company and most of the time, I do not go to the office. I travel from my house to my first call, and back to my house from my last call. In one company that I worked for, travel was considered from the office to the job site. If it was a shorter distance from your house to the job site, you were paid for that time. If it was shorter from the office to the job site than from your home to the job site, you got paid the office to the site time. The company I work for now considers the city that it resides in to be a "no travel" zone in which if I leave my house and go to the first call, my time doesn't start until I'm on site. Which of the above are typical or is there another scenario that would be typical? The company I work for is just "starting out" so there are no policies "set in stone" yet... basically just policies carried over from other companies that the owners have worked at in the past. Thanks.

    Security Message Board

[EDITED by ADMIN] jclick, As mentioned in a previous thread, I will be making changes to this board early next year. I will have a links category on the home page. If you make your topics more security alarm related, may be we can put reciprocating links on each others site. As they are, your topics are too similiar to the ones offered here. 12. Does anyone know of an inexpensive video title generator? I have a customer that is going to use CCTV cameras to show ball games on the internet. I'd like to be able to give the customer the cameras in exchange for our business logo shown on the video.
