  1. I have a Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I that has been up and running great for about 3 months and all of a sudden I cant connect to it. I cant make a direct connection to it using the IP address and the IVMS software doesn't see it anymore either. When I go outside and look at the camera you can see a small red light on it thats always on so I know the camera isn't dead. The POE switch that the camera is connected to also lights up the LED corresponding to the port that its connected to. Do I need to reset the camera some way? Ive already tried unplugging it from the POE switch and plugging it back in but it still wont respond. No settings have been modified since I first set the camera over 3 months ago. I have 5 other of the same cameras running on my network with no problems. Any help is very much appreciated, thanks.
  2. I had a feeling that was going to be the case, but I wasn't willing to buy another camera to try it out myself. I figured that surely someone on here has tried it before just to see what would happen. Thanks for the reply.
  3. Has anyone tried using non Hikvision branded cameras with ivms 4200? At the moment I'm running 4 various Hikvision cameras without any problems. I had considered adding a cheaper off brand onvif poe camera in my garage and I was wondering if it would even work with ivms 4200.
  4. Wow thats nice system you put together. Thank you for such a detailed response, that really helps.
  5. Yeah I don't think that would really meet my needs. Thank you for your input.
  6. I'm wanting to build or purchase a computer just to run Xprotect essentials on. I don't want to get a system that's too underpowered to run 6 to 8 HD cameras but I also don't want to over do it. Can you guys tell me the specs of some of the systems you're running Xprotect on with no problems? Thank you for your comments.
  7. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/DONGJIA-DA-2008GM-B-mini-housing-Onvif-2-0-H-264-8CH-1080P-mini-NVR/1510183991.html Has anyone ever tried one of these cheap NVRs? It says it will record 8 channels and its only $46.20. I know what they say about sounds too good to be true but at this price I'm tempted to take a gamble. I just wondered if anyone else has ever tried one.
