I would appreciate any thoughts / comments / suggestions on the following installation.
Planning to install three high definition CCTV cameras in an industrial setting. The camera locations will be protected from direct exposure to precipitation, but they will still be exposed to some splash and to ambient temperatures. The environment is a very high noise environment (approx 140 dB). Subject is machinery undergoing testing hence the area is always well lighted.
The system I am currently considering is the KT&C HD-SDI PTZ (KPT-SPDN120HD). The sensor is a 2.1 megapixel 1/3” sony progressive CMOS. The three cameras will be connected via RG6 to a KT&C DVR and the output will be displayed on a conventional HDTV. Camera control will be via the DVR and a KT&C KTX-1200 keypad / joystick. Observation is done real time, so recording of the video is nice but not required.
I like this combination of hardware as it is much less expensive than the typical PELCO setup. The challenge is that due to the design of these cameras they cannot “look up” beyond horizontal and my application requires this ability. KT&C advises that mounting the camera inverted is acceptable, but other companies warn this is a bad idea due to the PTZ system not being designed to operate in this orientation.
Does anyone have any thoughts or comments on this arrangement?
