Indeed the http port is not required. However there is no configuration for "media port" in the dvr (DS-7104HWI-SL), only "RTSP Port" which is 554 (by default). Do you think there is any configuration i might be missing, for this "media port"? I checked the traffic, using wireshark and it looks like it only uses 81 and 554 ports, there are no requests to port 8000.

I am using the public address. I am able to access it using web browser, even from external network. But when i use the program iVMS-4000 it just can't connect. I tried both ports 81 and 554. Any help is appreciated.

Hi guys, I recently bought DS-7104HWI-SL and configured it to be remotely accessible. I use real IP 92.247.230.125 for the router (the dvr is behind this router) with http port 81 and RTSP Port 554 both ports are oppened and forwarded - i checked this using http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ When I try to connect using iVMS4000 (windows7) it can't connect and it says connection timed out. I tried both ports with no success. I tried to connect with iOS version - iVMS-4500 and i had the same problem. I can see the dvr using browser and port 81, but i want to view the cameras with my phone. Can you help me with that? Is there any other port I need to open, or some special configuration i need to do?
