    D1 vs 900TVL

I'm looking at upgrading my DVR as it will not record at D1 resolution (despite it being an option!) BUT, I have looked at what cameras I havem and (as I want to fit more), what are available, and I'm a bit confused: If the DVR is recording at D1 (704x480), why should I splash out on cameras that say they are 900TVL. Surely anything above 480TVL is a waste??! or am I missing the point?
  2. Hi all, I'm completely new to all this - I bought a CCTV system a few months ago and hooked it up to my existing camera that was previously just for monitoring. All worked fine. I then bought some more cameras and hooked them up, again all fine. Now I want to make some of the cameras work only on motion detection, and the config has this feature, but I can't figure out how to get it to work! do have the manual, but it is in 'chenglish' and I can't figure out why it isn't doing what I think I am telling it to do. Having had a look around the forum and other info, I think one of the main issues is that the system (and therefore the config settings) could be one of a plethora of variations, so probably the best thing to do is figure out what I have before trying to figure out how to get it working. I have a photo of the front of the unit and the motherboard inside, the label underneath simply says H.264 Network DVR Product Number SK0000901. The web interface uses an addon (IE only) called VSS Web, and the Android App is IMSeye v3.3.9. If someone can let me know what system I should be asking about, hopefully others with experience of these will be able to talk me through the settings.
