  1. Hello Again, Does anyone here have any software for a NetProMax system? I'm thinking, like with Geovision, that software for all models are bundled on one DVD. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Craig

    Buying a complete set

I'm real happy with my Geovision system. You can get good used 16 camera cards on Ebay for not much money and plug it into your home Intel based desktop. Make sure it comes w/ version 8.0 or better to run on a Win7 OS. Pretty straight forward GUI and easy to use. Just dedicate a 1T drive and you should be able to record weeks of video. Supports 4 mics as well and is viewable over the internet. Or buy one already built and configed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-GV800-DVR-System-1TB-16-Channels-GV8-5-9-120fps-Win7-Hybrid-CCTV-/131281988334?pt=US_Surveillance_Digital_Video_Recorders_Cards&hash=item1e91042aee I am not affiliated with this ebay listing. Just a suggestion. CraigO

    Cam Upgrade Suggestions

There are a pluthra of 700-1000 TVL cams out there. First question is what are the resolution limitations of your DVR? Doesn't do any good to buy a camera that has a higher res than your system will support. Here is a IR bullet and dome that have 1000TVL, 12VDC that are good: http://www.apexcctv.com/p-1571-waterproof-vandal-resistant-bullet-cctv-camera.aspx http://www.apexcctv.com/p-1569-vandal-proof-outdoor-dome-security-camera.aspx Hope this helps.. I have never worked with Fiber optics. From what I understand, it can be done. But at this time it's pretty expensive and is still in development. From what I have read, there are cameras. They are very pricey.

Hello, I haven't worked with fiber optic data cables. This link might help to clear things up as far as fiber: http://www.cablinginstall.com/articles/print/volume-19/issue-3/features/the-use-of-fiber-optics-in-security-and-surveillance-systems.html IP addresses are easy enough. What system are you running? CraigO
  6. Hello everyone, I am in need of some help with a Netpromax system. It was gifted to me and came without a hard drive. It's a HXR-4816 and I not not have the software for it. It's got a tag on it saying that it has Windows XP embedded in it but when I put a drive in it, it came back that there was no OS installed. Does anyone out there have a copy of this software or know where I can get it? Thanks in advance, Craig Ovadia
  7. Hi All, Just got gifted a Netpromax HXR-4816 with no drives. Nice rackmount case but no software to run it. I installed a 1TB drive and installed Win7 to see if it works. I did notice that there is a sticker on it that says WinXP Embedded. No idea what that means though as there is no real documentation on this system, just a brochure on line. Anyway, anyone have a copy of the software to run this system? It would be a shame to just use it as a PC.... Thanks in advance, CraigO

Hello all, Newbie here. Been doing CCTV for around 20 years now. Mostly Geovision but some stand alone DVR stuff. Looking forward to learning some new tricks here and sharing what I have to offer. Thanks for the add, Craig Ovadia
