  1. Hi, I have many Panasonic HD500 DVR's in use. Many of these have been replaced over the past 5-6 years, but there are many faithful devices still in operation. Replacing all is cost prohibitive over the short to mid term. That being said, I'm interested to know if others have been keeping these faithful devices running and if so, what Brand/model/size replacement HD's have been successful? Same with the HD extension units... One of the lifecycle options for these devices I'd like to price/consider is simply buying a whole bunch of suitable hard drives, putting them in the hands of a vendor to replace in a Preventive Maintenance program. My thinking is that with replacement drives, these things could plausibly last forever, giving me time to upgrade technology more slowly on a prioritized basis and sleep well at night. The analog cameras connected to them certainly do! Cheers. Al
