    Using AHD

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any experience in using AHD cameras? I'm looking at getting a full AHD system, but will start off using the cameras in my current DVR (budget issues) then later on upgrade the DVR to a proper AHD one. From what I can tell as the cameras are backwards compatible with 960H and regular analogue there should be no issues using them in the DVR. Does anyone know practically how this will actually work? Is there just a switch on the side of the camera putting it in D1 resolution? Can I easily change the resolution back to 720p when I change the DVR? Thanks a lot

    DVD drives in DVRs

Is there a need for a DVD drive though if you can use USB? Figured I could also just view it on my laptop using an app and then use my laptop dvd drive if I really need to write to a DVD.

    DVD drives in DVRs

Hi guys, Might seem like a stupid question but why do all DVRs come with a DVD drive as standard? Some offer the option to remove it and substitute in an extra hard drive which seems way more beneficial to me. Thanks
  4. Thanks a lot. I saw they had a list of compatible cameras but wasn't sure if they charged for them or not. Honeywell have a similar list but same issue again. Done a bit of digging and I think Indigovision also charge a license fee, but again I have no idea how much. Guess I'd have to get in contact with them all individually. But yeah - thanks
  5. Hi Guys, Wondering why some manufacturers charge a per channel fee for using their DVRs with a third party? Any idea of which manufacturers don't charge this? For example I know GeoVision have a $99 cost per camera for their viewing software if third party cameras are used Thanks
